It seems very plausible that if you can make a generation ship, you could make something like CRISPR to artificially increase genetic diversity/eliminate potential birth defects. Or perhaps just store genetic material for more people than the actual colonists on the ship. You’d probably want to hedge your bets in case there’s a low survival rate. There’s a lot that could go wrong. Ecosystem failure, negative effects of radiation, or just good old fashioned murder.

I’m not saying this is the case, but it is very possible that if this person purchased the rifle legally, they believe that the purchase will be traceable back to them and that they will almost certainly be caught. So they could have acted with the mindset that they would be throwing away their own life.

That said this would probably be useful for post ranking on the back end, if they’re not already using it. There’s always been a noticeable thing on reddit where posts on large subs with little activity don’t seem to bubble up much on /r/popular. Which makes those subs seem even deader because they don’t get new blood.

I dunno, I wouldn’t think a cooking sub would consider making a mornay sauce and boiling some noodles to be a real heavy burden. As for the cost maybe? The cheese would be the most expensive component but I think it’s probably worth the upgrade to go from powdered cheese to real cheese.

I think life situation is probably more important than strictly age. If you’re an independent 30 year old working a full time job you probably don’t want to date a college student that lives with their parents.

It was potentially defamation when it was just women…talking to one another, too. This seems like a pretty solid case of men looking at something women do to protect each other, and saying “…but what about the men who could be negatively affected in some cases?” I also think the tone in which this is being discussed is pretty revealing about Lemmy’s demographics.
