Maybe add Audius to the media section? I understand torrenting since there is no service that provides popular music without selling our privacy. But supporting decentralized platforms like Audius and maybe checking out some of the small artists there is a good way to support a solution. Since torrenting all music is not really sustainable for the industry…
Get real! This is about more than one employer and employee making an independent decision. This is the way the system is developing.
Privacy is becoming less and less of a choice and its because of things like this. You can’t really decide to not have a smartphone anymore. Just like how you can’t really decide to not agree to employment conditions. There are more ways to influence people than with a gun to the head. Wake up!
This may apply in theory, but the truth is that these corporations have grown in power - beyond what a regular private organization can do. Facebook is the new default forum on which society communicates, they, in practice, control so much of what we see and say. We can’t keep treating them like they’re the local butcher shop down the road. They are integral institutions in our civilization now. They need to be held accountable when they deny people their rights.
