Happy Holidays! My Steam Deck has an issue where the power button isn’t doing anything. I keep it docked most of the time but Silent Hill 2 will freeze up the system and the system will need reset. I can’t tell if it’s a software issue or hardware issue (I’m leaning towards Hardware). I need to crack it open and figure it out. I’m worried though I’ll need to solder on a new power button though which would be a bit irksome.
It’s my only source of PC gaming right now because I bought it over a gaming desktop years ago due to it being better for my lifestyle at that time (I was/Still am a student who spends a lot of time on campus so portability is nice). Luckily if I can’t fix the power button issue, Alan Wake II inspired me to start planning a full size gaming rig so I can do Fancy Shmancy Raytracing and 4K without FSR
I went ahead and picked up the entire bundle plus origins. I think after Asylum I’ll put it on a brief hold because I’ve been also wanting to really play and finish Control. But after that I want to go back to Arkham and do City and maybe origins all in one chunk
I really enjoy looking at bad games so long as I can grab them dirt cheap. It’s a hobby I have. Even then I saw Suicide Squad for $2.50 and I couldn’t warrant getting it for that much. The game does not look interesting enough to spend 2.50 on for me personally
I might take you up on some of those offers at some point in the future. Right now i’m mainly waiting on the rest of my group to get it installed. The 80gb storage cost is crazy (I even ended up removing it for now just to install Red Dead Redemption 2 to play with another friend since i was waiting), and somehow both the other guys in our party need to upgrade their internal storage before playing.
If you have any tips though I’ll definitely take any you can offer. I think i’m like one of 10 people that use the Steam Notes function so they certainly won’t be forgotten
i get that lmao. They had the base version of 2 for $2.99, then they had a bundle with DLCs for like $80. I ended up buying the base game purely because i didn’t know if we’d like it or not.
Its so addictive despite being incredibly simple. I wish more games had something like the “cycle”. Even just the soft story aspects like with the final event being determined dynamically by your leader and other choices would be amazing
We’re unfortunately running forge and Oculus conflicts with a client side mod i have
It’s 1.20.1. The modpack is all custom made though
Unfortunately, the issue is more so that Iris doesn’t work with another mod i have
Dying is very common on default settings, and it’s how the game is prefers to default too. My suggestion though would be to play with the sandbox settings and see if you can get it how you want. the game is best enjoyed in how you would want too (Friends are far more fun to play it with though)
I support the idea of changing the game’s rules. It’s one of the first things i do. It definitely is up to player’s preference but i like playing it much more like a sandbox survival game then how normally difficult it is. Usually i’ll lower the zombie count and that’s enough for me though
I gave it a shot today and made my base in a Gas Station in Echo Creek. All the effort going into prettying it up makes it a lot more satisfying to play
I wish the Game’s world reflected it. Or at least had a cheat to toggle it. I’d love to be able to use the proper photo mode in story mode while it was snowing
Definitely worth it if you can get in without any Hackers. I’ve played on Console and PC, and in my experience PC hackers are a lot more destructive than console hackers.
The console hackers dropped 20 dead wolves in Valentine and Left. The PC hackers kept blowing me up and teleporting me into the sky stuck in a wagon and 15 Alligators to drop me to my death. Granted. The player base in general has seemed to have dropped. In this session my friend only ran into one hacker so it seems in better condition at least
Rockstar’s Abandonment of the game sucks. They don’t moderate anything and it’s buggy sometimes. I’ve never had an issue like what you’re describing but I’ve been hit with wonky collision and My friend had an issue where a hacker replaced his arms with Flame Throwers. It was funny, but also annoying.
I sadly haven’t played Infernal Machine. I want to pick it up some day, as I’ve heard some good things about it after seeing it mentioned in discussions about the new game
Definitely worth it imo. It’s really well made and really faithful to the OG
That theme and bowsers laugh lives rent free in my head anytime I see the color baby blue on a wall
I definitely understand the eel lol. It wasn’t super terrifying to me but the first time I saw that level it creeped me out. Jolly Roger bay is still one of my favorite levels though
Thank you! I love seeing people enjoy the texts I attach to it.
For the Steam Deck, I will say as an unsolicited review that in my opinion it was well worth the price. It packs a surprising amount of power for a game console of its size, though I play mostly docked nowadays so people’s mileage from mine will vary.
A lot of modern games are in the playable range for me at native resolution. Playable for me meaning 30 FPS and tolerable levels of FSR grain. Though some games like Silent Hill 2 I make an exception for since it’s really not supposed to be running on Steam Deck and instead will allow it 20-24 FPS (like a cinema)
