The ideal way would be to try and band together a large amount of “regular posters” and completely switch on an agreed date together; that would have a pull effect for others to do the same.

and we are talking about reasons why people are still there - those two aren’t one, because you can read their posts somewhere else too. Except if you meant that people are still there because those two are still there.

It does not restrict them per se, it’s just that the mechanics of what to show you are either simply based on posting time, or amount of “interactions” or “interactions/time” or similar simple algorithms. It would be possible to analyze posts for specific content and show you for example ragebait only, but i doubt that pull request would be accepted - you would probably have to make a fork of your fediverse platform and implement it there.

i know that it’s configured as a D-pad by default, but it’s missing haptic feedback - there’s not enough of an indicator where on the touchpad your finger rests, and if you lose the central position, have fun finding it again without looking. i often tried it. but it’s simply inadequate as a D-pad.

I agree that not including the D-Pad was a bad move, but if you play games that use the d-pad just for functions like map or switching of equipment, there was the option to use the trackpad like a weapon wheel where you could define i think 8 functions with OSD, and using one of the back buttons made that 16 functions you could define freely - you could replace the hotkeys of a game that used half the keyboard with this thing lol

They are not a Very Large Online Portal and do definitely not have to implement this in the EU under the DSA. There is a list, if you are on it, you have to do it, if not then not. Also, the EU wide system for eID is not yet completed and currently there is a plethora of single services, one per country, for eID.

I would say that the general mood here that generative AI for creative use or technical tasks is fine, enabling people is a good thing. We are primarily an anarchist community, and generally not happy with the massive corporate control over something that should belong to everyone (bc the models are the cultural output of everyone) and the amount of VC money that is used to push AI where it doesn’t belong in search of the next big thing.
