Do I think those people will move in? No, I don’t. Apparently some had already tried and they got stamped out pretty quickly.
There’s a pretty strong Marxist/Leninist/far-left community on here as well, so that helps. They can be insufferable themselves (mostly just the authoritarian pro-Putin ones), but as long as it’s not facist bullshit I can deal.
I’ve spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out what lodged that thought in my brain and I can’t find anything. I think maybe I mixed up a Kali extras repo or something, but can’t find any mention of that either, so clearly I’m losing it.
Is there some array that links a specific float value to a gender? Storing something like that as a float and having to look it up outside the object itself to determine it’s actual value seems like bad practice to mezcal but I’m not a developer by trade.
I feel like I remember there being a lot of pushback against flatpak even as recently as a few years ago. Wasn’t there a strong preference for programs to be in mainline repos or something like the Arch AUR?
I know the AUR is being depreciated soon. Was there a major shift in receptiveness to flatpaks or something? From a security point of view I feel like the baked in sandboxing of flatpak binaries is probably a strong selling point.
If you wanted to maintain distribution while also lowering onboarding friction, couldn’t you round robin 301 redirects to the signup pages on the instances listed on the joinlemmy page or something? I guess with each instance being moderated differently, having different rules, and having a different culture/focus that might not fly, idk.
The dev is @dessalines, who is also a dev for the lemmy project so the odds are pretty favorable he’ll stay active.
A bunch of the alt-right people, facists, and QAnon nutjubs moved over there when their communities got nuked on reddit.
I was just using it in my mobile browser, the site is remarkably more functional this way than reddit ever was. It was nice enough that I’m not sure whether I’ll feel like I actually need an app or not. I’m on iOS , and I’ve seen a lot of people mentioning Mlem. I’ll probably try it out at some point soon just for comparisons sake.
Yeah, reddit on mobile makes me want to gouge out my eyes then roll through shattered glass.
The only issue I’ve found with lemmy on mobile is remembering collapsed comments, or not jumping back to the same comment when you accidentally click a link that doesn’t open in a new tab.
There’s a pretty strong contingent of Marxists, Leninists, and left-leaning people in the federated lemmy network, yes. I like it a lot more than Reddit and their coddling of the actually dangerous to society as a whole far-right, built I just found it ironic you came to lemmy to get away from the left lol.
