When I used Mint about 6 years ago, I sometimes got into trouble with Mint’s weird update system. They were also telling users to reinstall instead of updating when there’s a new LTS, which is kinda ridiculous IMO.
I’m probably not the typical Mint user, though.
They had a lot of missteps over the years (e.g. at one point, they shipped with Amazon ads in the OS). Currently it’s the way they’re pushing Snap (which is a lot like Flatpak, but proprietary and only really used by Canonical (because it’s proprietary)).
Plus the whole “it’s for noobs” image.
Coffee filter machines are also old and reliable, very traditional (where I live, at least; French presses are a newer trend compared to that) and very practical-minded (IMO it usually tastes like crap, but you can make a lot of it at once and it stays warm for a long time).
Damn, I used to do that. I think I used Windows 7 at the time …
You get to choose between burnt-tasting black coffee and a pint of milk with more syrup than espresso!
Some instant coffee is just fine if you add milk. IMO it’s better than the cheap filter coffee that a lot of people I know drink.
Good idea! Maybe more specifically a live usb distro, like Puppy, Knoppix etc?
Couldn’t be more wrong for me, lol
Also, I feel like instant coffee should be represented - it’s one of the most common preparation methods and it’s easy to dunk on.
Also, cooking as a job fucking sucks. Long hours, low pay, high pressure to get things done fast, and people generally seem to treat each other like shit. Why would you do that to yourself if you had different options?

Snap and Flatpak have things in common (and I get that some people have objections to both), but Snap is significantly worse.
Meh. I did that kind of thing for maybe a year 4 years ago and then I just stopped changig it.
Now, I’m not productive (mostly because of health reasons), but I’m certainly not busy with editing dotfiles.
“unixporn wm” and “productive” is not a contradiction at all.
Some people are running Linux but just don’t care that much about linux-related content.
Yep, don’t have the headspace right now to deal with any issues that pop up, and TBH Canonical’s flavor of corporate-ness kind of takes the excitement out of getting updates, too.
I haven’t even updated to the current LTS yet.
Ubuntu didn’t have snaps when I installed this system …
