  • Thank you and likewise!

Haven’t had the best time these past three years and especially not this year where everything seemed to happen all at once. My 2026 is like a plot for a terribly written soap opera. Lost my beloved company, lost both my parents and got pre-stage breast cancer which means I lost my breast too. Lol.

I don’t even know if i have the right to feel anything about it because companies go under everyday in this economy, I’m not special in that regard and I still have clients and work.

Can’t grieve my parents because they are both still alive and I just made the decision to cut them out, but it’s learning all these new things about them that makes everything so much worse than it already was. How do you grieve a parent who’s still alive and who never loved you because they don’t have the capacity to love?

And with the breast, I can’t really react to that either because it was pre-stage, not cancer yet and they cut off my breast before it could get worse, so no kemo for me. How do you take ownership over an illness you never had, but it still cost you a body part?

    I don’t fucking know, lol.

I don’t know anything. I just know that from June to August some things happened and I’m not the same person anymore, neither physically nor mentally.

It’ll be fine, though! It’s just one of those bumps on the road where there isnt really much of a point to anything other than letting go and stop trying to fix things and people who don’t want to be fixed. 🤷‍♀️

    Fix yourself instead.

Hugs for you and I deeply hope your life is better written than mine xD

  • Just leave. I left in February last year. I made a post on facebook announcing that I’d be leaving the following week and that if people wanted to stay in contact with me, they could find me on my email, on Signal or call or text me if they had my number. I proceeded to gradually delete things manually. I am under no illusion that my pictures and posts aren’t saved somewhere in some database despite me deleting them, but I did it as a ritual and also in order to “pass time” while I waited for most of my contacts to have seen my message.

I found a tutorial on how to delete your facebook profile (this is one of the newer walkthroughs, and yes, it is fucking ridiculous), because that button is hidden several layers deep into your page so that only the most persistent mf’ers can find it while most people may go look and end up thinking “urgh, too much of a bother” and then just leave it for a later that never comes.

I was genuinely surprised that there were anyone who followed me to Signal, but people did and now, a year and a half later, I have grown a kinda long list of friends and family on my Signal and have heard that some of them have started using Signal as an alternative to other messaging and video call services with their loved ones. Most of these people were very iffy about joining Signal in the beginning. They lowkey feared it because it was new to them and they had heard bad stories from the news, but after learning how to use it and realize that there is nothing scary about it, they all seem pretty chill with it.

I am tired of telling my friends to stop using Instagram.

Don’t do that. Tell them where they can find you if they want to stay in touch. :D If you want a bird to come to you of its own free will, you have to leave the window open instead of chasing it through and closing it. Respect its autonomy and right to choose, and it will be way more open to come to you.

Any Recommended Stratergy To make them ditch Meta ?

Again, you cannot make anyone ditch Meta. It is a misguided way to think of it. I do understand that a lot of discomfort comes with being the first to do something within your social sphere. That is also what made me hesitant to leave facebook for several years. That and I didn’t know of any alternative to messenger which was the only mode of contact I had with my best friend, who lives on a different continent than mine. The minute I learned about Signal and she agreed to join it, I was gone.

My friend herself hasn’t left Meta. None of my friends and family have left Meta and I will never tell them to do so. At most, I will tell them why I left. However, I have noticed how some are starting to use Signal more than messenger. One of my family members prefers Signal to Messenger because they like the video call option better on Signal than on Messenger.

I have lost touch with a ton of people by leaving, btw. A ton. I don’t care much. I don’t see it as a loss. If I feel the urge to stay in contact with someone, I will reach out. Sometimes they reach out to me out of the blue. I like that.

I also like that when I get updates from friends and family, it isn’t from some feed on some platform, but from their own mouths.

I don’t have FOMO. I don’t feel left out. It was scary to leave initially, because you have been used to having access to everything, but life with less access is actually nice. I like that it has become a tiny bit harder to stay up to date on what’s going on around me. It has been rewarding.

It’s been a year and a half for me and I am currently reading more books, watching more movies and I feel more present in my own life. I barely remember what it is that I actually “lost” by leaving. Not much, other than a level of stress that I didn’t really know was there until I shut down my profiles. Highly recommend! As long as you get into the mindset of accepting that you cannot control what other people do nor should you.

  • It becomes worse when you learn the back story of why he sent a tesla into space.

Musk did to tesla what he did to literally every other business venture he’s had:

Sees talented people, buys their company, fires or kicks out everybody, takes over and if he can get away with it: takes credit for other people’s inventions.

In the case of tesla, he took over the company and kicked out the founder/inventor of these electric car models, snubbed and barred him from having any access to his own creation and as a final petty move, he sent the very car, the founder was owed in his contract, into space. And there was nothing the founder could do about it, becauae elon gets away with everything.

The only thing Elon has “invented” is the cyber truck. He was also behind the genius idea of electric car locks that has cost people their lives because they couldnt escape their cars. Every idea he has, is purely madw because his toddler brain thinks it is either funny or cool and he is rich enough to get away with it.

But yeah, the tesla in space was a literal middle finger to the man who created those cars because elon is a petty, jealous bitch who can’t handle that he isn’t smart enough to invent something this cool. Toddler logic.

Him taking over twitter was akin to the tesla in space. He was petty enough to spend the money to humiliate and fire all the people he didn’t like and turn their platform into even more shit (personally I have always hated twitter with a passion, but not as much as elon hated it).

He cannot create anything. He can only leech off of others and punish them for hqving the talents and intelligence he doesn’t have. He is a deeply insecure, pathetic little boy who is stuck in a perpetual hunt for glory so that his lame daddy might actually notice him and be proud of him for once. That’s literally also the only reason he cares about Mars. His daddy named him after the massiah in a literal nazi sci-fi book where a guy named Elom colonizes Mars.

I dove into this prick’s past shortly after he did the hitler salute and everything about Elon and his life sounds like ridiculous fiction.

  • It is a necessary evil to protect yourself from enemies. Granted, my country’s military wouldn’t stand much of a chance if russia or america decided to move from persistent provokation to active invasion. We can hope that our allies would help us defend our lands in the same way we have supplied Ukraine with aid, but who knows.

It isn’t fun being a small country who has pissed off two large nations because we support Ukraine’s soverignty and because we aren’t selling Greenland.

So yeah, maybe the military wouldn’t be able to protect us for long against eastern and western enemies, but at the very least, it would do its best until we are being fucked from both sides.

I have a very low opinion on russian and american military, of course.

  • I heard the opposite, that they supposedly began calling it soccer as a posh thing but every brit I know of, calls it football. Personally, I don’t care how it happened, I just find it weird how americans seem to cling to the word soccer and bring up goofy ancient history between them and britain as a defence. I have taken to calling their game, American rugby and will continue to do so for as long as they call football, soccer.

  • In my opinion, Americans and Canadians have a very similar attitude when abroad. They are loud and opinionated which can be both good and bad and they sometimes feel a bit like elephants in a china shop. They have no idea that how they behave, which is perfectly polite and normal in their own countries, is considered extremely clumsy and borderline rude in ours.

Americans are showmen by nature. They can’t help it (Canadians have a bit of a similar streak in that regard). It feels very fake in my culture even though I understand that you kinda have to be a showman in America in order to fit in. I consider myself pretty out going and loud by Danish standards, but next to an American or a Canadian, I become very mousy. They are just that extreme when put in the nordic context.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. I knew a couple of Americans who were really chill and didn’t try to “sell” me anything. One of them was an extremely introverted, but deep thinking writer, who might as well have been scandinavian himself because he never wanted to take up space and he was very soft spoken. Another was technically a total showman, until you learned that he had raging ADHD and had to stand up and move around while he spoke. He was very down to earth and real when you looked past his yoga poses during his talks. He had hated the hectic world in the city and built a cabin in the woods for him and his family. The third, ironically, became obsessed with our food culture, which shocked the hell out of me because our food culture is notoriously repulsive to foreigners. This woman lived entirely of rye bread, pickled fish, salty licorice, potatoes and every other food group that we pickle. All the pickled food. She looked like a feral animal at lunch time and was like: Gotta get my fill while I’m here because once I’m back in the States, I’ll never eat this good again.

    We respected her immensely.

Most americans (and canadians) I have met irl have been good people, even with the showmanship. I have met a handful of truly ignorant and obnoxious assholes, but I have mostly forgotten about them while I remember the nice ones more.

Online americans are obnoxious af, though.

  • I feel it whenever the discussion on football comes up. They get so fucking triggered when we call football football and not soccer. Even more when we correct them when they mistakenly call it soccer. Then they pull out their go-to cope about britain calling it soccer back in the jurassic period and I’m over here like: okay, but britain is one small country and the world is vast and literally everywhere else, we call it football. They always get so fucking triggered.

That and the gun control debate makes Americans go completely apeshit.

  • 🫠 man, my condolences.

In that case, a gym membership or something like it might be your best option. You don’t have to go hard or be perfect, but throwing some earbuds in and following a set routine can really help empty the mind for an hour as well. I used to go to the gym when I lived in the city and it was so nice to have an hour a day where the only thing I had to do was "go on treadmill for 30 minutes, go do three sets of five differnet exercises and then go stretch for 10 to 20 minutes.

I found my own workout plan by watching a few gym youtubers and looking up exercise programs that seemed beneficial. I’d do arms and stomach one day and legs and back the next and just switch day to day. Nothing crazy or ambitious, just something to get the pulse up and to escape my own mind for a bit.

If gyms aren’t too expensive, then consider it and if it is too expensive, consider home yoga. For that, you only need a mat and you can find tons of programs online. Yoga is also good wheb you’re in an apartment and you might not have a lot of space and have neighbors.

I hope you find a way! Exercise really does help woth anxiety! It’s bit a cure, but it makes life bearable <3

  • The only thing that has somewhat worked for me is to be physically active. I can clearly tell the difference between periods where I am active vs periods when I’m inactive.

Something as simple as taking a long walk in green areas have done wonders in the past. It empties my mind and I become nothing more than a machine that moves. It is the closest I can get to meditation and I think a lot of anxiety is trapped energy that needs a physical outlet.

I’m not diagnosed with anything, but I have been an anxious bitch for my entire adult life due to some bad things I went through, so I know how persistent and irrationally extreme anxiety can become.

Walking in forests and fields are not gonna magically cure life long brain patterns, but they sure as shit make them shut up for long enough that you get to enjoy life a little and are too exhausted to worry about all the stupid things that don’t matter, but your brain loves torturing you with.

When you have walked in a forest for an hour or two or even just 20 minutes, something inside you automatically calms. Nature is so important for the soul and we sometimes forget that. Of course, in case you live in a scorching hot desert, you may not have this option, but if you have a forest around where you live, go for a walk on a well used trail and take in the changing seasons. After a couple of weeks and months, the longterm effects will be apparent. You’ll still be anxious, but a lot less so.
