I’m in building maintenance. It’s not affected at all by AI. Most of the trades are safe. Basically anything which would require both advanced LLM and advanced robotics to replace.

Another case of agent Orange helping his handler, by giving him a bit of breathing room. However, due to the massive losses in Ukraine, Russia is long term screwed. They will face a population crunch in the next 10 years which could cause the government to collapse. In essence, Russia has mortgaged its future for potential short term gain.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's it going to take to truly stop the US?
17·3 months agoInvading or pissing off Japan, China or Canada. All of whom own a sizable amount of the US national debt. Any one of whom can dump said debt and cause a default on the US debt causing hyperinflation. With hyperinflation, they can’t pay for their military and thus are dead in the water.
I’m here because I like the way the upvote/downvote feature works on here better than Reddit. Theoretically you could have equal upvotes and downvotes on a post on Reddit and it would look like there is almost no engagement at all. Here it’s far more honest.
Like the early internet. It gatekeeps by requiring a certain level of technical know how. I like it, it keeps out a lot of stupid.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•at what point in life it's too late to go back to school?
5·4 months agoIt depends upon the job you are pursuing. I went back to school at 35 to pursue a trade in HVAC. I don’t recommend doing that much later. I ran into a lot of age discrimination when attempting to find a job.

1·4 months agoHow are you with New Brunswick French? I find it significantly easier to understand than Quebec French. Partially I think it’s because they speak slower in New Brunswick.

2·4 months agoQuebecois is definitely difficult. I can understand people the next province over (New Brunswick) no problem as they tend to speak slower and many of their dialects like chiac have a lot of English words in them. But Quebecois tends to be spoken very quickly, and in some cases words run together much more. I’m a bilingual French Canadian and I have a lot of issues with that accent, which is strange as my family mostly came from Quebec originally. My grandfather, whose first language was French could watch tv from France and understand it perfectly, but had a lot of trouble with Radio-Canada reporters.

21·4 months agoA definite exception would be the Newfie accent from eastern Canada. People in the same country cannot understand them.

4·4 months agoI played Super double Dragon for SNES earlier. I also played super Mario Bros 2 for nes this week. Platform games are a great way to pass the time on the go when you have a phone and a Bluetooth controller.

World News@lemmy.world•Millionaire CEO warns US economic situation could lead to revolutionEnglish
19·5 months agoHe isn’t wrong. All it takes is the right amount of people to be pissed and revolution explodes. If the oligarchs think they have it rough now, wait until they are being lynched in the street by people who haven’t eaten a decent meal in recent memory. Look up 1918 Russia if you don’t believe me.
While I think this is far too simplistic of a comparison. I will agree that the US is like nazi Germany if it was entirely run by barely functional idiots. The turd reich.
