PostNord’s decision to end service on 30 December comes after fear over ‘increasing digitalisation’ of Danish society
The Danish postal service will deliver its last letter on 30 December, ending a more than 400-year-old tradition.
Announcing the decision earlier this year to stop delivering letters, PostNord, formed in 2009 in a merger of the Swedish and Danish postal services, said it would cut 1,500 jobs in Denmark and remove 1,500 red postboxes amid the “increasing digitalisation” of Danish society.
Describing Denmark as “one of the most digitalised countries in the world”, the company said the demand for letters had “fallen drastically” while online shopping continued to increase, prompting the decision to instead focus on parcels.

Yeah, here in Norway I’ve gotten a total of 2 letters in the mail this year. Both of which were from the government with voting information.
If there was no election this year, I wouldn’t have gotten a single physical letter.
Wait, you guys don’t get junk mail? I got like a birthday card from my mom, but I get like 3-5 advertisements in the mail everyday
My mailbox is in the entry of my building, which is locked so only the actual mail carriers have access. They have a key to get into the building to deliver mail and parcels.
I’ve got a sticker that says “no unadressed mail” which they respect, so if it’s something that isn’t addressed to me by name, its not put in my mailbox. (some exceptions like public notices, but those are years between)
What a great username you have. Given that you’re in Norway, are you related to this guy?
I could never even dream of being related to someone as awesome as Apetor.
Rest in peace, absolute legend.
Amen, brother (or sister)
