Not only that…
They are proposing to make that functionality possible. And they understand that, they know that their proposal introduces DRM functionality.
Which means they quite literally are proposing “a way for browser to DRM page contents.” That is exactly and precisely what they are proposing: A way that DRM content can be done, which doesn’t exist in practice today.
That’s not all that Google is proposing. But if I offer you a yummy margarita and a poisoned margarita, one can’t accurately say that you aren’t being given a poisoned margarita just because you are also being given a yummy margarita. And if our concern is only the poison in this situation, then it would be honest to not mention the unimportant yummy margarita and dishonest to speak only of it. Google is offering a poisoned margarita.
