Mainstream politicians express alarm while lead candidate in Saxony-Anhalt welcomes congratulations from Elon Musk

Mainstream politicians around Europe have expressed alarm after the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) swept to a historic state election victory in Germany, while nationalist figures cheered the result as a mandate for change.

While falling just short of an absolute majority, the AfD surged into first place in the Saxony-Anhalt state election on Sunday, exit polls ⁠showed, putting the far right within reach ​of power at ‌the state level for ‌the first time since the second world war.

    not really. Decisions were taken after proper discussion

    Right the party that he was the unquestionable leader of. Im sure they really listened to the people…

    He was leader of the party, not the sole decision maker there.

    People will move to the right when they are let down by the system

    This system is working as expected and it is meant to let people down, nothing can stop it and liberals cant stop crying every 4 year to vote harder.

    Left wing “authoritarians” are good, right wing authoritarians are bad. History has proven this.
