It’s so weird to me that someone saying something so benign and perfectly plausible, if a bit far fetched, but funny whether true or not, gets some people worked up enough to not only not believe them based on nothing but their gut feeling, but to publically announce “yea right! Didn’t happen! Nothing ever happens that’s not a normal thing for me!”
Maybe it’s how their family raised them. Nothing ever happened in their household. Their parents did nothing interesting and the kids did nothing interesting. So “nothing happening” is their normal. This post must be the first time they’ve encountered families with personality, which is so strange to them that they can’t believe it.

I think it’s just people with very limited life experience. They’re young and/or perpetually online.
