      In the west, the main cause of malnutrition isn’t a lack of calories, but a difficulty in access (from availability or price or factors) to healthy foods with the required nutrition for a healthy life or from an excess of certain nutrients. This is often manifested as conditions such a obesity and type II diabetes. So malnutrition does impact people in the west.
