Reminder that the US invaded Iraq 20 years ago on false pretenses. That whole region is unstable because of US meddling.
not that it was particularly stable at any time prior
It was a hell of a lot more stable.
Oppressive was the word you were looking for.
No, stable.
“God, I love it when Kurds are genocided, that’s what true stability looks like.” - Least repulsive tankie
Everyday the definition of the word tankie becomes more nebulous; now it includes people who think the invasion of Iraq was a bad thing.
Tankies have shit views all over, including that Saddam’s Iraq was ‘stable’ rather than ‘oppressive’. Nothing about the illegal invasion of Iraq. But you have fun jerking off to gassed Kurds.

Fuck off historical revisionist
Fuck off historical denier.

Pro-Iran militias that also took the chance to bomb Kurdish villages in the areas near the bases.
They can stay out of Kurdistan if they don’t want to see US soldiers.… Based?
Not really. The current US soldiers are there with the permission of the Iraqi government, which is far from a US lapdog. The group in question is a pro-Iranian paramilitary group seeking sectarian domination over Iraq, and sees non-Iranian foreign influence as an obstacle to that.
