More and more software pops up, like https://bonfirenetworks.org/ and the hometown software of friend.camp admin. Is there an overview somewhere that shows the initial ideas, features and future wish-list features of Fediverse AP software ? For example, Pleroma seemed to have been started by coders who were fed up with some Mastodon restrictions (or bloat maybe). They have later build in ssh and gopher (and BBS alike) support.
Apart from this for my own curiosity it is an idea to make a comparison sheet for people who like to self host. For example, click on self host on VPS or SBC at home, then when the user clicks on SBC only light weight options would be shown (not Mastodon). Such a sheet could make it easier for people to self host. Or is that already available ?
As far as I know there is no list with those details. I co-maintain the watchlists that are input for Fediverse Party website. With such maintenance one always has to update as soon as something relevant is found, or the list becomes worthless.
The amount of info you want to track, means it is a lot of work and dedication needed. It will be hard to keep such list up-to-date. There is a technology that reverses the burden of maintenance that is very interesting, called Murmurations protocol. I posted about this on SocialHub in Federating the Murmurations Protocol.
With Murmurations in place each project is responsible for maintaining their own list entry. They do this by providing profile information somewhere, and registering it with an index server, after which anyone interested to aggregate the information (for whatever purpose) can subscribe to it.
