Too… much? That’s a thing? You’re yanking my chain. As a Dutchman, cheese is my religion. We eat about 22 kilos per capita here, US is about 18. And seeing the overall state of the US, I can only assume low cheese levels are to blame.
Can I offer you a nice block of Gouda in these trying times?
As a french I am also shocked. Luckily I have some emotional support goat cheese on hand
I love French cheese. You can buy a lot of them here in Dutch supermarkets. Personally, I really like a nice soft brie. That’s considered a ‘snack cheese’, usually enjoyed on a small cracker. Also really nice in a baguette with some tomatoes, cucumber, sliced cheese….
Guess I’ll add some to our shopping list this week; might as well stimulate that EU economy in these trying times. Cheese certainly does make me smile :D
How do you know when someone abuses animals? Don’t worry, they never stop telling you.
I used to eat massive amounts of cheese daily, way above average even though I’m lactose intolerant. It literally put me in the hospital. For years I had said i could give up meat but I could never give up cheese. Something died in my soul when I made the decision to give up cheeses with lactose. But I still eat my share of Gouda :)
hey good news, there’s basically no lactose in most cheeses. what kinda cheese were you eating where lactose became an issue?
Lots of mozzarella, and soft Mexican cheeses and things popular in the US like pepper jack. I’m sticking with hard and well-aged cheeses now. Cheese wasn’t the only part of my diet that put me in the hospital. I started by cutting everything that could possibly be a problem. I’ve been testing putting some things back in. Fortunately I can still eat hot pepper sauces as long as I don’t go crazy. I love me some spicy food!
oh yeah the goopy stuff is what gets you goopy
Lactose intolerance is very rare here in the Netherlands, as you can imagine. I always feel bad for people who have it, since milk and cheese are pretty fundamental to the Dutch diet.
I’m with you on giving up meat vs. cheese. I’ve gone days without meat, and could probably go vegetarian if I needed to. But vegan? Absolutely not. Cheese pizza is life. I’d sooner kill myself than give up cheese. It’s not happening.
Oude boerenkaas, amirite?
Yes please, we’ll try anything at this point. If it’s eat more cheese, I’m in.
Mmmm, no, very mammalian
I’m at the age where I should say no to desert more often.
Instead, I look over my computer and realize I ate that entire bag of cookies I just opened 30 minutes ago and say, “Oops.”
Unless you’re eating sand, you probably should be saying no to dessert. Yes, I am fun at parties.
You have been banned from wisconsin
Nah Wisconsin has just turned into a pvp zone for them
“You can not rest when enemies are nearby”
So you used to be cool. You still are, but you used to be, too.
This statement will in no way ever come back to harm them…
Is that a big pot full of cheese? I like cheese too but damn that’s a lot of fucking cheese.
pities this poor, fondue-deprived child
Ah so this what cheese fondue is. We don’t really have that here but will try and find a good restaurant nearby that sells one.
It’s not that hard to make it yourself. If you can get some decent cheese.
I am pretty bad at cooking although this does look easy to cook. And whenever I want to try something new for the first time, I always try to find a good restaurant that makes it as authentic as possible so I can decide whether its something I like.
For fondue you can quite literally get a small heater and pre-made cheese that will melt at the temp.the heater is set to. My parents spring for the fancy one that did chocolate as well when I was a kid
Making it from scratch is pretty easy too, honestly, it’s like making a cheese sauce for Mac and cheese but you do it in a pot, add wine, and use a different cheese. If you can boil 4 ingredients together and mix, and find some bread to dip it in, you’re golden
dont forget to add a head of garlic :)
Look, I don’t appreciate being called out this hard.
Could also be the weather’s turning.
My wife told her mother in law I’m allergic to cheese to get me out of eating all the cheesy food she makes. There’s few cheeses I like and melty cheeses usually aren’t it
