Another problem with using it for “cleaning” CI is especially on more delicate, thinner casts like old Wagner, CHF, etc, it can cause severe warping of the iron.

Thanks for the chuckle! I can’t imagine how little self awareness or sense of shame I would need to post only the top photo and pretend it was anything more than destined for the trash xD
The majority of the black crusty crap on the pan was ages-old layers of carbonized oil. Likely the customer was using a poor oil choice for higher temperature frying and cooking, like EVOO, which would cause more and more layers to build up over time.
I got a large 44gal tote and filled it about to where it could cover the pans, then added sodium hydroxide crystals to it. Exact measurements vary on quantity of water, ambient temperature, length of soaking, etc. NEVER ADD WATER TO SALT, start with water then salt after.
The lye bath got rid of the majority of the gunk, and using a wire scouring wheel on an electric drill (WITH GOGGLES ON) finished the job.
Following this, I seasoned with two layers of homemade ghee.
I got a lead test kit off of Amazon, it was very highly rated
So the best method I found in my research is to use the same test twice. Once on the test subject, and then on something you know to contain lead. Well you wouldn’t believe what I found at the antique mall…
The test turns this deep purple color when it comes in contact with lead. So here were my findings
People actually contact me with their pans that are not in working order and I will strip and reseason for them for a price. I also get people asking me to be on the lookout for various kinds of pans along the way which I can sell them. Finally I just find old pieces online for cheap and flip them for a profit. It’s a great deal of fun!
I’ve recently dove headfirst into cast iron restoration and have been getting a lot of local customers, and I am excited to share update photos with all of you soon.
I guess the problem is that, while technically accurate English, it’s a pretty non-standard usage. One sees a page full of a variety of planes and it’s expected that the following text will make a general statement on planes as an idea: There are so many kinds of planes!
To refer to a group as the book does, it’s just kind of clunky and awkward, and on top of that so many kinds is, in my experience, just an unusual adjective form. Teaching children how to read isn’t just about learning how to sound out words: it’s also about how to suss out their meaning, and a child at this reading level may have a hard time understanding the more abstract grammatical form that this book decided to take.
It’s funny but I’ve found that less oil works better with pancakes, in my experience. Too much oil saturates the cake and it’ll get soggy and won’t cook well, but that second cake is always heavenly
Griswold #8, very nice. I’ve had mine for years and it’s an amazing pan. The WW is a good find, too. I would disagree that the WW will be very valuable, maybe around $40 restored. Based on the logo it seems to be a later model. I’m sure it’s still a great cook!
My recommendation is getting it stripped and reseasoned if you want to get the most money from them.

Not even close to a complete collection of favorites but I tried to hit a lot of different subgenres and whatnot. As you can tell I have a huge bias for the 90s lol
What could po$$ibly be mi$$ing?
You got the Christo-Con old guard Republicans who will drop to their knees at the drop of a hat to suck the nearest Israeli’s dick. They make up majority of the over-60s, which is frankly a pretty major segment of the Republicans. These are the guys who will automatically side with our greatest ally regardless of context.
Trump-leaning but not fanatical Republicans tend to be pro-Zionism or at the very least they are neutral to it. I feel like this group is exceedingly small.
But MAGA-ers? It’s hard to place them. You get a mix bag of hardcore Zionists, white nationalists, libertarians who are against the funding, it’s all over the fucking place.
I do feel like Zionism is dropping among Republicans year by year.
Those scissors appear to be in metric so I’m going with EU
I would say “Fuck cologne” would also work
Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring…

Funny, I actually go over the smoke point to polymerize. I use ghee and cook at 525 for 1 hour, repeating the process for additional layers. It makes beautifully smooth and hard finishes.
Literature on the subject has been highly contradictory in my experience. Some argue that the oil or fat should be below smoke point, and others say it should be over. I personally avoid Crisco, vegetable oil and seed oils in my cooking and I extend that to seasoning as well.
Ghee has worked fantastically for me but it’s another case of he-said-she-said, with half the internet thinking it is the perfect cooking and seasoning fat, and the other half decrying it for a higher rate of spoiled or rancid seasoning — issues I’ve personally yet to come across. Everyone’s mileage varies so much with cast iron, doesn’t it?
