I saw a device just the other day that had 2 Heltec boards in one in closure so you could have both Meshcore/tastic firmwares running in one handheld enclosure. It seemed like a good way to have both firmwares running in a single device.

Technology@lemmy.world•TV Execs Warn FCC: NextGen TV DRM Could Turn Free TV Into Gambling and Pay-TV PlatformsEnglish
2·5 months agoYea, I’m aware of those from working in telephony but cannot justify a DAS in my house, for visitors, when T-Mobile has perfect signal for us all through the house as well as the woods behind my house.
It’s just easier to have people log in to my guest wifi ssid since modern smartphones have moved to SMS/Voice allowed to go over a data network that isn’t cellular.

Technology@lemmy.world•TV Execs Warn FCC: NextGen TV DRM Could Turn Free TV Into Gambling and Pay-TV PlatformsEnglish
4·5 months agoThis is almost my exact problem. I am at the bottom of the hill of my neighborhood with terrible signal. It’s bad enough that Verizon and AT&T mobile carriers do not get signal at my house. I had to spin up a guest wifi ssid for visitors to have access on their mobile phones.
I think when I tried the OTA antenna I get maybe 3 channels.

Technology@lemmy.world•TV Execs Warn FCC: NextGen TV DRM Could Turn Free TV Into Gambling and Pay-TV PlatformsEnglish
6·5 months agoI just went through the annoying ass process of looking for my OTA antenna for my TV for the Super Bowl because you had to pay a subscription in order to watch it anywhere else and I figured that the OTA channels would at least have it on.
In the end, I gave up trying to find a live play of it and will eventually watch the highlight reels if I even care that much.
I probably threw the antenna away because as you said, no one watches antenna TV any more.

6·1 year agoLast I heard, Utah was the only US state that allows for this. I’ve got a perfect south facing side of the house that I could easily put some panels just outside the windows to help offset my power bill that I’d love to use.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Charging to tour rental properties...English
2071·1 year agoJust had to do this a few weeks ago. They have you taken a pic of your driver’s license, provide your SSN & run a credit check on the spot. Then they charge you to tour the place.
A very “fuck you, I’m getting paid regardless” mentality from rental companies.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can I block Tiktok purely by DNS?
4·1 year agoThe only way I was able to block TikTok was to use Adguard and block it under Filter -> Services.
You cannot block it just by domain as they use CDN’s and it is just a constant game of whack a mole to try and block them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Another Google Pixel 6a catches fire after battery-nerfing updateEnglish
71·1 year agoI just got rid of my Pixel 6a because it had one of the bad batteries. Tip to anyone taking advantage of the trade in rebate, DO NOT get the $150 Google Store credit and be like me thinking you can use it on the Google Fi Store to purchase a new Pixel. The $150 store credit is only towards the purchase of a Pixel phone via the Google Store. Take the $100 cash rebate option instead because it tells you once you choose either option, you cannot change it.
My hope was to get the Pixel 9a on my account for $249 (activation discount) on my account and then use the $150 store credit… nope.

Since you mentioned FF series, don’t sleep on FF12. It is up there on my top games as it was the first one I played where I could automate my group.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Balcony solar is all the rage in Germany. Why not in the US?
17·1 year agoI’ve always wondered, how does balcony solar work? Are you charging a large battery and using said battery?
That article says you just plug it into an outlet. Is it a special outlet of some kind?
I’m just one of today’s lucky 10,000 and want to learn about it.

And nothing of value was gained.
