I have a huge list of small independent ones added to my browser, but I’m not near it and don’t remember most of them. Marginalia-Search is really good though
I use a FalbaTech keyboard and can definitely recommend those. Expecting this one to last forever!

2·1 month agoMaybe sorrrttttt of the opposite of your “especially”, but:
Do They Owe Us A Living? by Croy and the Boys, which is a country cover of the 70s punk song by Crass.
Absolutely love this song.
I mean, yes that is true, this is unfortunately how life is for most of us… However, why encourage anyone to put up with it? We should be changing it. Nobody should have to live like this, we just do.

3·2 months agoPieFed communities do have reddit-style wikis attached. They work pretty well but don’t federate. Like somebody else mentioned, i think Ibis is closest we’ve got.

Ooh, so a collection is like a starter pack? I’ve definitely got a couple ideas for those. Wait, what if somebody doesn’t want be in a collection? Is it like opt-in or something?
Edit: ahh ok, so there’s a toggle in your profile for whether you want people to be able to add you to collections, andddddd you can also remove yourself from one afterwards. I would imagine this might mean that collections can’t include accounts from other fediverse platforms though, right? Like somebody on Loops won’t have opted in, because that toggle doesn’t exist for them.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•PeerTube 8.2 Video Platform introduces channel ownership transfers, live stream catch-up support, Studio editing improvements, and admin updatesEnglish
4·3 months agoIt works exactly like Lemmy, yeah!
If your experience with PeerTube comes from their official app, the UI is kind of unintuitive to anyone familiar with the fediverse. I think they tried really hard to prioritize users not having to be signed in at all, if that makes sense?

At work we have a little thingy for digitizing 8mm/super8 film reels. It’s kinda janky, doesn’t actually play the reels at normal intended speeds or even at all really, in a sense. Rather, it takes a picture of each individual frame and then turns them into a video. I’ve been told by purists that this is far from ideal.
However!
The advancing film mechanism makes this incredibly satisfying rhythmic “ka chunk, ka chunk, ka chunk” noise that I reallllyyyyy enjoy. Check it out: https://loops.video/v/g53y-EtF-C
