It bothers me because TR2013 didn’t have to be like that. The dogs were challenging and scary. The puzzles were good. The bow and melee combat was tense. Hunting and exploration could’ve played a bigger part, the game so rarely took you off the rails and it was good when it did.

The game could’ve been made with killing humans being rare dramatic moments, with the guns being tools of last resort.

That’s weird, I haven’t gotten the update yet but dark mode is working fine in FF for me. The place where it fails is ff-based webapps, which I use for YouTube music, Discord, and MS Teams.

The way people turned up their nose at the Fediverse when the Muskening happened to Twitter was heartbreaking. I knew social media was an addiction but when you find out your dealer is an absolute monster how do you not go looking for a new supplier?

But they all discarded Mastodon et al as cringe and teduoust. Like, the way even trans women influencers stayed on Twitter blew my mind. When bluesky got off the ground there was finally some migration, but not enough.

It really showed me how many of the “anti-capitalist” and the “anarchism” and “mutual aid” people were all just talk. The mutual-aid volunteer-based platform exists and you stuck with the fascist because it was easy and you’re too cool for the nerd shit.

I wonder if Android Wear wouldn’t work as an OS basis for this - lower power requirements, probably allows black-and-white screens. The problem there is that Android Wear is absolute hot garbage that can’t decide if it’s stand-alone or companion to your phone.

Why is not just targeting raw AOSP instead of Google Android not considered? It seems like you could use modern hardware with that… is it the lack of Play Store that’s the dealbreaker?

Yup. The game is pretty overrated, imho, but its aesthetic was amazing. No lighting system, everything was hand-shaded with textures that really got the Megaman look. One of a kind style.

Imho the problem with the 3D-era pokemon games isn’t that they look low-fi, it’s that they look low-fi in a boring way. Like they were built from asset-store content from 15 years ago.

If ever there was a game that could’ve gotten away with some weird theme like voxel-art or heavy use of billboarded sprites, it’s pokemon. Like, imagine a pokemon game with pixelated hand-animated textures like in Megaman Legends. That would work.

No, it’s complaining about how some games are so swingy that even with skill-based matchmaking the game always seems to be a landslide in one direction or the other.

Overwatch is the worst for this.

Game one: We absolutely steamroll and as tank I do more than both DPS players put together. Yay.

Game two: We get our asses kicked and some Ana who doesn’t know to switch or group up when they’re getting dived spends the whole endgame screaming how awful our tank is.

Honestly, as somebody who really loved the early era of Android gaming, I’m really disappointed how ephemeral it all was between the Play Store delistings and the absolutely atrocious approach to backwards compatibility in the Android OS.
