So the solution then, is to convince other people not to crave money power or resources.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your opinion, is space exploration necessary?English
1·15 days agoWe should explore space with semiautonomous robots. We can do space exploration at maybe a quarter of the cost of sending humans to do it.
Flood Mars with exploratory rovers for years. Then mining robots. Then manufacturing robots. Have them build facilities that build more robots to expand the process exponentially .
Then, if we decide it’s even worth it at that point, have them build a city and send people.

Technology@lemmy.world•Satellite firm pauses imagery after revealing Iran's attacks on US basesEnglish
81·2 months agoI find it very unlikely the US could keep a lid on 200 deaths and saying it’s six. Not for more than a week or so. People’s families are going to wonder where their loved ones are. Hospital workers, morgue workers, life insurance companies, flight crews, people are going to talk, and share pictures.

241·2 months agoI started watching a lot of home-improvement type videos on YouTube, and suddenly since then all the ads now assume my dick is horribly bent and doesn’t work, and that I uncontrollably shit and piss myself.
It’s so pervasive I can’t even watch YouTube on my living room TV with my young kids around because I would have to explain way too much to them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Facebook is absolutely cookedEnglish
39·2 months agoI deleted Facebook maybe two years ago. One of the last things I saw was a very obviously AI generated image of six or seven soldiers that had lost the same leg and all had it replaced with a prosthetic at exactly the same point, with some caption about “let’s get some likes for our wounded warriors!” Followed by dozens of comments in support, I assume all were bots.

Large News orgs like the NY Times and kind of indie news like The Intercept have official encrypted channels for sending tips. I would send to 2-3 large news orgs, maybe a half dozen small ones. Tell all of them the whole thing will be dumped on Twitter in some time period so they should rush to get ahead of it.
