Real life isn’t that clean. Security is about layers and making things as difficult as possible; there is never a single step which will fully protect you from everything

I do sometimes wonder if people see the 0, and that biases their opinion or something. More often I get confused replies wondering why my comment seems broken though 😂
I’m a retired programmer, so starting at 0 makes sense to me. I always thought it was weird that you “like” your own comments by default. I don’t like them, I’m neutral towards them.
I used to do it on Reddit as well, but they disabled that feature. Unironically one of the reasons I left that place lol

Thanks :)
I remove my own upvote from my comments because I like when it starts at 0

OCD is wondering if the light back there was red, demanding someone check red light camera locations, not being convinced and turning the car around for a 20 minute detour to manually check for hidden police cars, still not being convinced on the first pass so you do it again, then having 2 separate panic attacks on the way home that you’ll lose your licence and job, then checking red cameras locations again on your PC once you get home, then checking the mail every day for 4 weeks for the fine that will bankrupt and makes us homeless

We need a real “deep dish pepperoni special” refactor into Rust

I’ve had the opposite experience.
Most common failure point seems to be people not actually reading my comment properly, and attacking me based on what they “think” I wrote; usually some polarised version that twists my meaning completely. Like in this example, imagine someone replying “so you’re saying all Lemmy users are illiterate assholes?!?!” Then everyone agrees with them for some reason, it’s pointless trying to clarify at that point.
I’ve stopped contributing as much because I can’t be bothered dealing with the nuclear fallout anymore.

This is the worst fucking idea I’ve ever heard. Please don’t create the Mother Brain and hook it up to the internet.
Also: Does it count as AGI if it’s just a gigantic human brain?

On iOS you can set an app to require additional credentials to open, to prevent this situation. I’d imagine Android had something similar. I did it for all my important apps, just in case. Don’t want someone able to access my bank account or nudes.

Watch out, if those accounts are ever “locked”, you will get permanently locked out of the accounts. Happened to me because a data breach revealed my email address and some idiot tried brute forcing my password. Didn’t work but it broke the account. Secondary recovery email address and correct password wasn’t good enough. Support basically told me to give up and make a new account (???).

In this case, the more we talk about how evil this distro is, the more evil people will find and support it. We were never going to install it in the first place.

Just as bad here in Australia. I hate flying and just don’t do it. Even if the drive is 3 days.
The worst part is, all these measures are laughably ineffective at preventing anything when it was actually tested, with a 95% fail rate. Security theatre.

Sounds like ME/CFS. I have that, it sucks dick. Had to go to the doctor in-person on Monday, and it fucked me up until today (Saturday). Normally I do phone consult, but The System says No sometimes. The only treatment is “try not to trigger symptoms and hope you recover” like it’s the 1800’s 😂 like at least give me opium or something

I find LLMs produce the best output when I give them a stupid backstory to set the mood:
The inspiration for this code module is “I’m hungry but too tired to get off the couch”. You just got home from work and are exhausted and sit down, but can’t get up now. You should have eaten dinner first. You put on the TV and watch something. All channels have been replaced with the cooking channel. Someone is making pizza next door. You sit back and doze off, dreaming of mozzarella mattresses and pepperoni pillows. Eventually you wake up from your nap, just perky enough to put on a microwave pizza. It’s almost as good as you imagined, but you burn yourself again because you’re impatient. Your boss asks you to make [insert code change here]. You procrastinate a bit, but eventually do it just before going to bed.

I remember having to download games bit by bit (heh) over 2 weeks
Did you forget to type something?
