Jeez, just faced the forever recaptcha a couple of days back. I used Firefox web and the recaptcha was a sold 5+ kinds (select cars, buses, motorcycle, signals…). I kinda half thought that it was some sort of gag after seeing it go on for what seemed like forever. Thankfully I made it through and it will not change my decision to stick with Firefox.

Have I visted reddit, yes. Do I use it? No. I have grown to love lemmy. Disconnecting from a hyper charged, conterversy seeking website has done me good!

A couple of laps and Piastri would have gotten Lewis I think…

Pretty and nice… the fact that there is Chrome around Google Chrome is a fun touch

I use an open source app called feeder. Found it on the f droid store. So far it has worked really well.

It is a blessing for someone like me who had a lot of difficulties to stay away from reddit. Lemmy gives me a slow paced window of reddit, with RSS feeds taking up the rest of the free time. So in the end the time I spend is more focussed on my interests but driven by reputable sites instead of someone in reddit.

Captcha or recaptcha is good enough imo, no point in reinventing the wheel. Alternatively, split instructions in an email and on the website. For ex: Send email with What is the square of 3 (sent as an image for every word) And on the website Email + 25 = xxxxx

unfortunately it is whatsapp… Had everyone move to signal, but it didn’t last :(

Site looks very promising. Would be great to have an explainer video on how to find the right instance and how to join groups across instances for new comers. For sure the site has a learning curve but given the state of reddit, I for sure want to look for an alternative.
