Because I want more organizing and activism.
I don’t want people who have never organized or done activism or built anything.
I don’t want just commentary.
Agitation is the foundation of organization. There are plenty of leftist organizing things but they get co-opted by the liberals because the class consciousness isn’t there. With sufficient class consciousness in a population you can’t stop organization. It will happen nearly of its own accord.
Maybe the next revolutionary leftist podcast will be the one that breaks out of leftist circles and starts killing liberalism.
I doubt that it will happen with a podcast; we need to meet people in real life, not just through podcasts that sometimes preach to the choir.
Lenin didn’t spend half a book talking about the necessity of founding newspapers because he never considered talking to people in real life. You will never be able to have a one hour political conversation with 10,000 people. A small podcast does that every week. Podcasts are the pamphlets and newspapers of the 21 century. If the podcasts aren’t reaching the right people we need more of them not less.
I disagree.
Why can’t we have both?
We can! I just think we have too much of one.
I disagree. Organising in the real world, and spreading class consciousness are less than mutually exclusive; they complement each other.
I agree.
Do you see ML podcasts as a way of spreading class consciousness?
I think they’re one way, but they’re overused; we have so many at this point and they sometimes just repeat themselves.
I just want better quality, I guess.
I suppose it depends on who the podcast is for: if it’s to dispel western capitalist propaganda about socialist countries, (i.e, @millennialchaos’ Radio Free America; which dispels propaganda against People’s Korea) who’s target audience are liberals in the Imperial Core; repetition of certain points is helpful to bring a point across to as many people as possible. When it comes to ML podcasters, the more people influenced by them, the better.
In short; you, as an ML; probably aren’t the target audience for the podcasts you are referring to.
Even so, I don’t like podcasters and other influencers generally. The drama they get into and gatekeeping is done.
I also find that they oversimplify things.
