    I think that decentralized or not has nothing to do with the people which posted in it. There can be the same fakes, extremists, racists or fascists as in the normal network. Human rights depends on the people and the goverments itself, not on the network or communication media they use.

    eh. if the internet is shut down (which happens a lot in countries with authoritarian rule), decentralized web doesn’t do much. we need decentralized communition networks.

North Korea has a local internet, which goes through government servers. Encrypted messages only raise suspicions, follow-ups, infiltrations, running the risk of being blocked or worse. This is why steganography is widely used, to disguise the messages in innocent photos, texts or music, which do not cause suspicion.
