The excuse we get in Australia for why Labor have to do everything exactly the same as how the Liberal Party would do it, is that if they don’t, they won’t get elected and the Liberal Party will get in instead and do all of exactly the same things, but with a different banner.

Time for some new actual centre-left/left/far-left politicians. ‘Drain the Swamp’.

I can almost guarantee you at this point that it was either the air travel lobby, or dems being worried that Trump might actually be able to whip the votes to nuke the filibuster. Leaning more towards the filibuster at this moment.

i’m convinced that it’s the filibuster too; it’s way too much of a popular tool for lobbyists to let go.

Yeah, much harder to do their little “Revolving Door Villain” Strategy when all it takes is a simple majority to do anything. Not impossible mind you, but definitely much harder.

did you catch how they improved the revolving door strategy this time around? all of the democratic senators that caved this time weren’t up for elections next year; they ended their careers by falling on their swords to protect the filibuster.

Yuuup. Couple of them were retiring, a few of them aren’t up until '28, a couple of them aren’t up until 20-fucking-30! But yeah, the more I think about it the more the only thing that make sense is that Schumer was getting worried that Thune was close to caving on the filibuster.

I think that limp dick offer Schumer made the other day was probably lobbyist money stuff. But I think that the full on caving was about protecting the filibuster.
