I think the worst part is the dev is afraid of taking any action against them because they can just release a video smearing him and it’ll be the end of his reputation.

Piracy is a gray area, stop being offended, you pirate things, whether adblock is or Isn’t piracy it won’t change your life. Just move on and leave things be.
I’m extremely against copyright law in general, but seeing just how big LTT is (they’ve spent tens of thousands for a single video on several occasions) and how hardline anti-piracy and anti-doing anything to reduce the revenue to “creators” (namely them) they are, I felt it appropriate to point out the hypocrisy. This is basically the same as how the “You wouldn’t download a car” video used pirated music.
Something I hate about this larger discussion about LTT and piracy is that ad blocking in no way fits the definition of piracy. The Cambridge Dictionary (just an example, you pick whatever dictionary or legal definition you like) define piracy as “the act of illegally copying a computer program, music, a film, etc. and selling it”. The selling it aspect is why piracy laws are essentially unenforceable. I don’t, in any way, see how ad blocking is piracy.
