Okay, I have a 50/50 chance of guessing correctly.
So, I’m going to say have a look at these neat ‘Stalagmites’ I found? 🤔😁

P.S if your country doesn’t have the freedom to roam https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom/_to/_roam there’s something inherently wrong.
Does anyone else see a cat’s face?
The way I remember it is stalactites without the e says tits and tits hang
Nah just remember it as stalagMites and stalacTites. T faces down and looks like a stalactite and M faces up and looks like 2 stalagmites
I learned it as stalaCtites hang from the Ceiling and stalaGmites come from the Ground.
Good one, but I still prefer the titties
I also prefer the titties but for remembering stalactates
That’s probably the best one. Otherwise I think of Mites ~ termites, and some stalagmites look vaguely like those classic termite mounds.
That’s how I used to memorise it but now I feel a bit boring having read all the other comments 😄
Boring can be good
I still like looking at the T and the M an seeing stalagtites/-mites. Aesthetically pleasing.
Stalagmites might reach the roof one day, and Stalactites are holding on tight, so they don’t fall
Stalactites hold tote to the ceiling and stalagmites might touch the ceiling one day

Stalactites hold tight to the ceiling with stalagmites might make it up there someday.
StalacTite Tombe, stalagMite Monte.
For the french memo technique.
StalacTites are on Top.
Stalagmites are …
Masochists?
Power bottoms
Stalactite holds on tight.
Stalagmite might poke you in the ass.
The way I learned it is that T looks like a hanging stalagTite and M looks like two jutting stalagMites.
Yeah M is spikes sticking up from the ground. T is a spike hanging from the ceiling.
Stalactites are the ones on the ceiling pointing down, while the stalagmites are the ones on the floor pointing upwards. A lot of people have good ways to memorise it, but my way is by imagining sta lag mites are slow little bugs crawling on the ground, and stalactites are therefore the opposite.
I’ve always thought that stalaCtites are on the Ceiling and stalaGmites are on the Ground, but I see lots of people spelling them both with G’s so maybe I’ve just gotten lucky never needing to know this far in life.
stalagtites hold “tight” to the ceiling is how i remember it lol
- you guessed wrong. They are stalagtites.
- It wasn’t even a 50/50 chance, because there’s also a stalagnate in your picture.
- Cool picture. It kinda looks like the mouth of a big cat, like a cheetah.
Stalactites hold tight. Stalagmites might.
See, if it’s hanging from the ceiling it must be holding tight, innit?
Never forgot it after hearing this in the 4th grade.
I was taught “When tights come down, you might get lucky”.
I wonder if our geology teacher was a bit of a perve?
P.s. I think what we call “tights” in English is what Americans call “pantyhose”.
Ok so what you’re trying to say is that if you pull down your underwear you might be lucky? But then how do you buy the lotto? You would have to pull down your underwear in a store in public. Nah! That doesn’t sound right. No. First you buy your lotto, then you bring it home and pull down your underwear before checking it! Yes! That’s it!
Stalactites have to hang tight or they’ll fall.
My way to remember this is simply that stalactites are stalactites and stalagmites are stalagmites, not vice versa.
The other 50 🙃
