Realistically, I don’t think that VW is going to get people working in Germany at wages that are going to let VW successfully compete with Chinese automakers, collective bargaining or no. Like, I expect that in the long run, they’re going to have to shift more stuff abroad.
Isn’t one of the reasons the massive support from Chinese government?
Volkswagen is preparing to build a battery plant in Canada that will receive up to $13 billion in subsidies over 10 years.
At the same time, Stellantis is building a battery plant in another part of Ontario that will receive up to $15 billion in subsidies.
And people are worried about Chinese auto makers being subsidized?
