Article is paywalled, so maybe this is covered, but it wasn’t the UK government that found Man City guilty. They were found guilty by an independent body hired buy the premiere league, which again, is not the UK government.

After the statement made today by Man City following their appeal, I really hope they have the book thrown at them. It a just world, their penalties would drop them out of the pyramid, they’d be blocked out of the transfer window, and a forced sale of the team would take place. It won’t happen, but if this isn’t the most significant punishment in EFL history by a large margin, it will be a travesty and a stain the league won’t be clean of for many decades.

It’s all a bit of a nonsense because those FFP rules were brought in specifically to stop City from challenging the historically successful clubs. They didn’t want a repeat of Chelsea.

The amount of money and corruption in football right now is abhorrent. Punishing 1 club will not fix the rot that had taken hold of the game. The EPL has never been clean. If you wanna watch football, support your local team.

Chill out with your tin foil hat, the FFP rules were brought in to stop dodgy owners doing another Leeds or Portsmouth. All of the other clubs had to operate within those rules and several clubs have already been punished for breaking them. While these rules were designed to stop clubs from overspending to the point clubs collapsed they also stopped financial doping which makes the competition unfair. Why would anyone want to watch a competition where one player is playing with an infinite money cheat code turned on?

City fans don’t seem to understand that they are not the rebels fighting against the establishment, they are the kid playing with a cheat code thinking their achievements should be the same as all the other players that operated within the rules.

That is also true. I can see the point in having rules to ensure clubs don’t bankcrupt themselves. But a club who has infinite money isn’t allowed to spend it?

Football fans don’t seem to understand that the top level has always been about who has the most money. It’s never been fair.

If we were serious about fair competition we’d be doing things like salary caps and limiting transfer budgets. Banning gambling advertisments and forcing clubs to support the grassroots level.

The state of football mirrors the state of the world. Owned by the rich, extremely corrupt and unable to be fixed without systemic change.

This’s like Fifa punishing Qatar for bribing Fifa to host the world cup…

The UK football federation pretending they did not know where the money of those deals was coming from, and gladly accepted £100s of millions from them for years and just now trying to flip the switch on them. They also did it with Chelese’s Roman Abramovich, and New Castle United’s MBS… You’ve always been fucking dirty and everyone knows that your Priemer Leauge stinks with corruption for decades.

So no … clean your own fucking disgusting house first before airing others dirty laundry.
