Facebook Inc did not notify the more than 530 million users whose details were obtained through the misuse of a feature before 2019 and recently made public in a database, and does not currently have plans to do so, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.
Makes sense, it’s not like anybody who cares about privacy uses Fb in the first place.
Many people who use FB services still care about their privacy. They can’t get away though because of the network effect.
they can, but they choose not to
Sometimes it’s not a choice though. Every time there’s a group project at my university, Facebook Messenger and Google Docs are what everyone defaults to. I’ve tried convincing people to use alternatives, but no one cares, so if I don’t use them, I can’t complete course assignments.
It’s true sometimes you don’t have much choice when it’s things like work or school, but I would never use it for anything personal.
It depends a lot, whatsapp for example
I´m pretty paranoid about my privacy, but I still need to choose between having to use it or not having a job, since my work group is on there with no alternatives, just like pretty much any small workplaces in Brasil.
ha! yeah you’re probably right.
but seriously: i think that is the exact reason that it’s so important.
