      u mean starting a linux vm on my work pc? that’s not possible. Workplace services shut those things down completely. Can’t install or run anything not blessed by the pope himself.

          yup it sure does… especially since i am working in IT but all my collegues “dont want the hassle of implementing linux machines into the work environment… windows works why do you want linux?” gosh darnit

            My boss knows its macOS or Linux or he’s doing interviews.

            I will not work with a Windows machine. Life is too short.

                I wonder if you couldn’t DD the drive to an ISO image and then mount that in QEMU. You could do the VPN configuration on the Linux host and then route both the VM and local traffic over the VPN so you can use native Linux tools and still have all your Windows software. Windows is going to go bugfuck on restart with a whole different set of hardware… I dunno how easily it can recover from that.

                  There is no way for me to use Linux on my work pc. We use MSTSC and MSRA for supporting, most of my work takes place on a windows server aswell and the other part of my work is just browser based.

                  I don’t gain anything by forcing linux on that machine besides headache and probably some calls that go like “What the fuck dude?! Why are you using Linux on your machine?”
