Oh, boy. That’s just what we need - a swine flu pandemic, just in time for 2024. At least Britain is reporting it early and taking it seriously (from the sound of it), not just sweeping it under the rug until it’s a real problem.
Bet it’s what China is attempting to keep hidden
Is this the first human case, or the first human case in the UK? Because it seems as though someone in Michigan was found with this in August.
While there is no vaccine for this, it also appears that human-to-human transmissibility is very low.
The article states it’s the first human case detected in the UK.
As long as it doesn’t mutate to become more transmissible over time, I don’t think there’s much need for the general public to be alarmed. Now, if only people would simply practice proper germ hygiene (e.g. mask up when sick, frequently wash/sanitize hands, etc)…
The title and the first paragraph of said article are worded badly.
Definitely agree with you on that part.
Can life just do us a solid and not bring out the sequel to Covid while we’re still reeling from it?
I’m sure we’ll be super prepared after this covid-handling inquiry!
It’s compelling.
I kinda want it a little
Who. Is fucking all these pigs smh 🤦♂️
Cameron
"There’s people on the street
Getting diseases from monkeys
Yeah, that’s what I said
They’re getting diseases from monkeys
Now, there’s junkies with monkey disease
Who’s touching these monkeys?
Please, leave these poor sick monkeys alone
They’ve got problems enough as it is"
Hiphopopotamus knows what’s up
Cameron’s back in the cabinet. Coincidence?

This is the best summary I could come up with:
LONDON, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Britain said on Monday it had detected a first human case of flu strain A(H1N2)v, which is similar to a virus currently circulating in pigs, and that the individual concerned had experienced a mild illness and fully recovered.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said that the case was detected as part of routine national flu surveillance and the source of infection was not known.
“This is the first time we have detected this virus in humans in the UK, though it is very similar to viruses that have been detected in pigs,” UKHSA incident director Meera Chand said.
Close contacts of the case are being followed up by the authorities, the statement said, adding that the situation was being monitored with increased surveillance in surgeries and hospitals in North Yorkshire, a region of northern England.
In 2009, the swine flu pandemic in humans infected millions of people.
The UKHSA said that based on early information the infection detected recently in Britain was different from the 50 or so other human cases of the strain found elsewhere globally since 2005.
