    They impeached him because he refused to appoint Constitutional Court Justices already approved by the legislature.

    Funny thing is, the court is now at 6/9 of seats filled, 2/3 of the judges needed to be present to form a quorum. 6 of the 9 justices are also required to agree on adjundicating impreachment cases. If any judge dies, we’re looking at a very funny South Korea situation with 2 suspended officials that held presidential powers, and also a court that cannot (legally) do their official duties. And the constitution requires that impeachment cases must be finished in 180 days. So what happens on day 181?

    TL;DR: Han was getting in the way of investigating Yoon, the president who had been impeached for trying to enact martial law. Also, they need six out of nine justices to agree to uphold the impeachment but right now they only have six, and Han has been obstructing the nominations of three more justices to fill the empty seats. Nevertheless he’s been pretty cooperative and gotten of the way and the deputy prime minister/finance minister is in charge right now.
