Open Source@lemmy.ml•Organic Maps Turns 4 Years: The Privacy-Focused Alternative to Google MapsEnglish
71·2 years agoI’ve been looking for something like this! So far I had an open street map bookmark but this is way better for when I’m hiking. Other commercial maps sucks for hikes.

8·2 years agoI thought space rockets had to wait for. Ight to go into space. If they took off during the day whey would just go into the blue sky like planes do.
I’m not correcting that typo.
We clap the slate to make sure the sound is in cynic with the picture. It’s more of a tradition now that we have time code.

0·2 years agoHas biometric been considered for cars? I mean it’s used for phones and computers, why no cars. Maybe in addition to a key/fob. If it senses the fox and your biometrics (either finger or face or both even) it will start the car. If the car doesn’t recognize your biometrics, then you need to enter the key in the vehicle to start it. If it recognizes you can start it.
I didn’t choose the camera… believe me it’s not my first choice.
The fact that Nintendo shut down the servers makes it retro IMO.
It’s was pretty easy (failed once because I didn’t quite follow the steps, you really need to count your button presses and screen taps, any extra press and it’s a do over)

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Why do fdroid main repo keep apps that has not been updated in 12 years ? Isn't it more logical to move apps that has not been updated in more than three years to the archive ?English
0·3 years agoThe big difference is that old games run on the same hardware with no OS or no new updates to the OS. Droid is supposed to work with new phones on constantly updated OS. It’s just like it’s OK for a CNC machine to work with floppy disks since it’s not a connected device that needs to work with new hardware/software to function.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I got this popup ad on my TV **while watching a DVD**English
6·3 years agoI fucking hate my Roku Tv. One of my roku TV became unusable after software update. Can’t be rolled back. I’m just stuck with a perfectly fine screen and shit software. And yes even connecting another device via HDMI is an issue because the TV restarts randomly for “updates” while watching external sources.

1·3 years agoThat’s why I went the way of starting with a cheap $100 3D printer at home. The fast iterating is precious to me. However, if you want to print things off a website like Printables or Thingiverse, you don’t really need iterations as the original designer (hopefully) did it already.

1·3 years agoYou can buy a small printer for cheap nowadays. And honestly the amount of things I fixed and made with my printer absolutely justify the space it takes.
