Well someone posted a bunch of screenshots that just make you look kinda goofy now

Not every state in the US is the same so your comment is mostly based on smug ignorance anyway. It’s not paranoia if you live in a city with a lot of crime etc. You just wanted to try and feel superior. Giving me reddit vibes tbh.
I just wanted to look up blueberry waffles but I was derping hard and couldn’t remember the word for blueberries… I was an adult at that point but just imagine a kid doing that on accident iykyk 💀
Not giving your kids access to the internet at all is insane. You’re setting them up for failure by not actively teaching them how to navigate the Internet and what bs to look out for. Anyone that does this is just trying to indoctrinate their kid and prevent them from being exposed to any other ideas. The ego on parents that think they know enough to entirely prepare their kids for the world is ridiculous. Especially these days. You’re just setting them up to be behind when they’re older and they’ll resent you while they struggle to catch up.
I dunno… A lot of the newer gens didn’t have to tinker with everything to get it to work so they’re less familiar with the ins and outs of stuff. Not to say they all are because it’s silly to generalize that many people but many of them grew up with this stuff. Just like how I couldn’t tell you how a TV works or fix one but I’ve built all my own pcs. That happened naturally because I had to learn it early on to have a computer. That being said they definitely seem to be developing a unique skill set for navigating the internet and social media as a whole. I’ve noticed they’re a lot less likely to trust a generic Google search or various articles online. I guess when you’re raised around bullshit you’re gonna end up more critical of it. This is mostly about gen z of course and maybe younger millennials. Gen alpha is feral and weird we should all be worried lmao
I was more of a lurker for much of my time on Reddit but I find myself commenting and upvoting a lot more here because I genuinely want to contribute. I should probably just sack up and start actively posting on the few small communities I’d like to see grow tbh
For whatever reason? They’re trying to DRM the internet lol. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion but there are some pretty big reasons to be mad at Google on a good day. Nobody should take that out on you but I understand the frustration. People letting things slide because it doesn’t bother them specifically until it’s too late is how everything keeps getting worse.
Ahhh. This is it. This is the good stuff. Lemmy is really coming along I missed this.
Shhhh!!! My husband still doesn’t know it’s my fault he’s been getting manga ads and I can’t make fun of him for having anime boyfriends if he finds out. Even worse. He’ll be in a position to make fun of me AND he’ll get to be smug about it. This is my life hanging in the balance here 🥺
It’s 1000% jealousy. Almost everything like this is. I know for a fact because I’m a recovering judgmental asshole.
Nobody that’s spent any decent amount of time around women thinks this way. So, I think we have our answer lol
Guys that think we don’t make an unnecessary amount of dick jokes are just telling on themselves for not ever being around women in any kind of meaningful way lol
You guys just kinda quietly hate a lot of things anyway so that seems fine lol
I work in insurance but I ran some Minecraft servers once. That’s gotta count for something right??
So rage comics aren’t memes then? That’s the beauty of language. It’s always changing whether we like it or not. The one that gets me is how people are calling photos screenshots sometimes now. Makes me wanna buy a cane so I can wave it around angrily
I wouldn’t count on that and I’d definitely recommend backups. I had a channel full of videos just disappear and I never found out what happened. I just went to check something one day and it was gone. The videos are all gone. Nobody could help I eventually just had to suck it up. From what I read at the time it happens here and there but not to people big enough for there to ever be a stink about it. Someone said it happens if you don’t log on for long enough but I logged in every few months at least for various reasons so I dunno.
When I think of it as dead I think of it the same way as Facebook. Sure it’s still there but the vibe is thoroughly dead. They’re where people get comfy and retire to stay stuck in their ways while others move on to greener pastures.
I like to think of them as retirement homes. Boomers retired on Facebook. The next gen of boomers will now retire on Reddit. I hope I never retire anywhere I want to try all the new things forever :(
It’s so horrifically abusable too. You can easily lose the “privilege” of slave labor just because someone felt like it or didn’t like your face.
VR and my guilty pleasure games that still use ridiculous anti-cheat are holding me back for now :(
