long time rocket league player and have about 20 hours from open beta + release combined. Have to say RL’s netcode and physics still remain unbeatable, while Rematch tries to hide their input lag during live match through animation length, it’s very obvious when you played long enough and have those wonky lag or desync/rubberbanding even on connection <60ms average.
The game have good fundamentals, but I doubt it will have good skill ceiling for longer term as the main ranked mode is 5v5 which relies on positional play. The dev didn’t mention quite a bit of things in terms of mechanics but players slowly converge to explain things off experience. Like, when you have the boost on, you have higher priority when trying to hit/pass the ball then player that does not activate it. At the moment, because of the lag/desync, person have good ball control/possession have advantage over people trying to defend if purely in a 1v1 situation. If you are goalie/sweeper since it has some modifier to make defending easier, but still most goals are scored 1v1 against goalie because of the options available to attacker and the boost committed shot/pass shot.
5v5 ranked also mean people who solo queue will have much tougher time to grind through ranks to get where people can pass reliably or position proper.
I wish them have more time focus on making the netcode good and reliable and then tweak the options for defender to force a more position/passing heavy game.
So encrypted, periodical interval to mask out any incoming/out going variance in traffic I wonder how they mitigate the backend part as there might be a ton of wasted traffic to hide the actual traffic. since they obviously need a lot of users to hide the whistle blower, but that also mean their backend needs to be pretty smart to handle lots of traffic and still consume energy to decrypt and then throw away the “noise” data.
that’s really cool. Does the message part work as regular p2p message app?
But like the ice tracker, wouldn’t download and use the app expose the potential user lists to surface if local authority can ask for such information?
yeah the director’s cut seems to make the progression much smoother. I am just like maybe 1/3 into it, maxed out connections so far each for new stations I get to. (5 stars on my leg so far.)
I do understand the need for those forced encounters, now I got gears to handle I need to remember to turn off the slow mo when encounter them. XD
thanks for taking the time explain the details. I guess when working against gov level tracking you need Tor/VPN/etc to stay safe.
depending on how they implement it. ie. the covid map and wild fire map apps from the BC gov doesn’t actually pull any information from your phone except location if you turn on the proximity alert. IF enough people download the app it would be very hard to locate the user even if you have location alert. It is a good idea to download EVEN if you are not in the targeted group cause projectiles won’t stop mid air because you don’t look like Latino. Simply be near the area of active raid carries risk.
It can be done proper and be great help for people either want to avoid be in the area or trying to help out fellow human beings.
I don’t disagree with what you said and usually nintendo game has better version 1 than many other publishers that requires GBs of day 1 patch. Basically, their game is pretty broken and only past the certification to send to gold. But that’s “in the past”, I am just saying that we should not rely on past experience when comment about the current polices and trends. If nintendo is moving toward key cards, even if it’s something pushed by other publisher, we can and will see the impact of this for other platforms’ physical sales.
This is basically the 2nd round of push to pure digital and that’s nintendo’s attempt.
we are long past that point with all the patch/content update/dlc downloads. I don’t even remember which first party game receives no updates/patches post release.
Is there a list of more popular decentralized platform and their equivalent?

“Giving away free games seems counterintuitive as a strategy, but companies spend money to acquire users into games,” said Sweeney. "For about a quarter of the price that it costs to acquire users through Facebook ads or Google Search Ads, we can pay a game developer a lot of money for the right to distribute their game to our users, and we can bring in new users to the Epic Games Store at a very economical rate.
Good for Epic.
“And you might think that this would hurt the sales prospects of games on the Epic Game Store, but developers who give away free games actually see an upsurge in the sale of their paid games on the store, just because their free game raises awareness. And it’s so much that often developers, when they’re about to launch a new game, come with us wanting to work closely on a timed release of a free game, just to drive user awareness of their next game. That’s been an awesome thing. And it’s been by far the most cost effective aspect of the Epic Games Store.”
Good for developers, that have decent enough games.
“We spent a lot of money on exclusives,” said Sweeney. “A few of them worked extremely well. A lot of them were not good investments, but the free games program has been just magical.”
Exclusives, of course this is the expected result, because that how game publishing/marketing works. People in this thread talking like publishers make a lot of money on 80% of their released games. (<-- it’s not, in case you did not get it. ) I think it’s just Tim Sweeney’s way of saying, we will adjust our approach in the future, like what any publicly traded CEO would do.
I didn’t design that system, and I think it is this way because in the past without forensic evidence, the witness role basically put the burden to people who are testifying or on the stand for questions. That’s why nowadays when the suits wants to push shady things they go off record cause they don’t want to keep any evidence. It’s up to the minions to smart up to make sure you cover your own ass.
And, sometimes company make or break during trials. I don’t want to see value flop, but I also think 30% is a lot if you don’t even use steam features. (here I mean you only publish on steam, but you don’t use their DRM/Friend/Matchmaking, workshop, lobby, etc. But if a dev do indeed use those backend service I think it’s justified. )
I hope you understand the principle of putting down names and/or title in email for paper trails is a thing, you don’t really think Valve is a “flat” structure as marketed, right? I’ve consider myself lucky that I didn’t run into much political or ethical drama thing for my career, but simply put names down and confirm the decision in writing dodge me quite a couple big bullets.
whoops.
Did you followed the Debb vs Heard one? I know it’s kinda special case with lots of video and court recorded footage etc. Gabe isn’t exactly a celebrity that expose their private life, but if internal emails is on the table for discovery then it can also be very different. Cause they will just tell you “you said/wrote make a decision here from this email” then start off that. Like you said who is a better actor? Can you suddenly remember details with which “partial” quote are referenced without context from email 6 months ago for your argument? And then suddenly don’t remember any details making a decision 2~3 weeks ago? From neuroscience, our memory is pretty unreliable as we can fill the gap all we want. But it’s court case just how the judge/jury believed what part they saw/hear.
They will have to face the consequence because then the lawyer will bring up stuff that shows:
Target is to make the case, through Gabe is just a attacking vector.
cause you would then have to dispatch a 3rd party audit to make sure Gabe isn’t reading from a teleprompter that his lawyers prep to answer any questions on the fly. You can prep your script “before” but not during, once you are on the stand you are on your own, subject to the court rules, etc.
Yeah, I was rerunning the old game and now in the dlc part, almost done and still like all the more challenging puzzles.
Many of the terminal questions and interaction though is what make you stuck the longest. I know you can save scum if you want to see what other path from you choice, but you can also do that online by checking the wiki for example.
They don’t really have real consequences game wise, but make you still think about those questions when you lie on the bed.
