Oh, I see! I’ve never seen pet food marketed in that way before. I guess the strategy is to play on how humans tend to apply humanistic traits to animals, but It’s very strange and weird nonetheless.

Isn’t the marketing directed to the dog owners (humans) to disclose what animal produce their product (I.e., “chicken flavored”) contains, more than advertising a distinctive taste as usually the case with human targeted edibles?

Oh, another content update? How exciting! Thank you for sharing, I had not heard about this.
There’s your answer. Religious views often lacks that crucial nuance of logic, usually when the point is to blindly place your trust for the future (in some mystic all-knowing, always good-natured spirit) or to serve as some kind of soothing explanation for things hard to find a reason for, are conflicting, like in your example.
My personal opinion is that some people need that comfort in order to cope with things beyond their control. The same lack of scientific/reasonability that is confusing is at the same time the comfort they need. To someone who isn’t sold to this mindset, it can easily lead to confusion and frustration, because it simply goes against any logic applied in any other context in a modern society.
The whole ‘god has a plan for everything’ feels like basically what this statement stems from. The idea that as long as you stick your head down and stay in line, a higher spirit will apparently at some point suddenly decide it’s time to interfere with humanity and see that those who obeyed the (religious) rules will be rewarded and the bad people (I.e., who ever that doesn’t share the religion’s specific morals) will finally face justice. It’s a comforting idea if you are open to it, kind of in the same ballpark as placing your trust/hope in a mythical idea of a structural, global revolution that just happens to support your specific ideals. Only difference is that the latter is scientifically possible to theoretically happen at least.

Hey, me too! I ditched W10 for Linux Mint in Sept last year, so much to learn but it’s been a blast. I’ve never experienced having such a smooth working PC.
Proton Drive for photo storage is a horrible experience, though. As someone who has been relying on the free tier Proton accounts for cloud based photo storage for the past year, currently sitting at roughly ~2k files currently that I am very dedicated to keep - How is it a horrible experience?

That was the point I was trying to make in my original comment. I don’t think there is, and I don’t think OpenAI even care at this point given their track record of bad PR. They are already in bed with the government, they can’t really be touched until that changes first.

That could work. But who will define where the company should step in, at which times, and still maintain respect for the right to digital privacy? And in this case, since it was OpenAI specifically which is generally known as a corrupt company, would one trust the company to not use this as some kind of loophole for other stuff?

If your reason to be on an online forum is to discuss, disprove, or change the beliefs of an stranger online, a good idea is to actually try.
If you’re hunting precious updoots with snarky one-line comments that are parroting the ideas of internet culture, then this is not the place for it.

Such a thoughtful, elaborated response. And a emoji included as well, to really capture the feeling of being written by an adult.

Why should OpenAI be held responsible for this particular incident? Because their LLM recommended the user to contact a suicide hotline when he expressed his suicidal thoughts? Because it correctly answered his questions and confirmed that the safety of his shotgun was off? Don’t get me wrong, I like having companies held accountable as much as the next guy, but why don’t you ask the gun production companies to be held responsible as well? Hell, we might as well be asking for his parents to be held accountable for their offspring’s actions.
Yes, LLM’s can, with or without external manipulation, provide information about sensitive subjects, which can then be consumed by vulnerable individuals who may act in a harmful way. That individual would have acted and reached the same outcome not matter if the LLM would have existed or not, because there are multiple options to using an LMM to gather information.
What are the realistic expectations of OpenAI to implement to prevent these things, that doesn’t automatically mean stricter restrictions to the user data privacy and further strengthen the control of citizens (thanks to the flourishing relationship between OpenAI and the American government)?

I mean, There’s also the more direct approach if one wants to give out bribes in return for votes… Remember this? Tell me more about how amazing and just the Western Democracy is.

That was my thought as well. But apparently they are known for their fast growth —the genera can grow as fast as half a metre a day (that is, about 20 inches a day), ultimately reaching 30 to 80 metres (100 to 260 ft.
So although they may reach a pretty impressive length, they seem dependant on sunlight like a previous comment pointed out.

I can see where you’re coming from. At this point I’m not interested in engaging with content that has a negative impact on my mental health, even if I support those views. There’s some extent of irony in this behavior, but I’m just tired of being constantly bombarded with reminders of our sad world. I don’t use typical social media, and every once in a while when I catch a whiff of a friend’s Tiktok or Instagram feed, I’m completely blown away by how much content there is designed to trigger a negative, or often an angry reaction. This was a big reason for me to leave Reddit and I’m trying to avoid this as much as possible on Lemmy.
I’m still very new here and still trying to figure this whole fediverse thing out, I’ve only been here for about a month, give or take. Like some other user suggested were common for newbies to Lemmy, I chose the most active instance without really thinking about it, and always scroll through /All. During my short experience here, I have blocked so, so many communities and instances already. Blahaj is one of them, not because I disagree with the importance or need to stand up for LGTQ+ rights, but because I feel that the general content posted there is naturally based on a politically driven agenda, which again is all fine, but I browse this shit before bed to escape my already constant anxiety, and I’m here for memes and a good time. I’m not interested in content that is either dystopian doomerism, American circus politics, war reports, or what ever depressing reminders of our current speedrun to degrade human life, in basically all categories.
I get that people are actively frustrated, angry, in need to vent, or in need of other’s to help them feel less alone, that they’re not the only ones who think the world is losing their minds. This space is perfect for people to discuss those things, to find likeminded people and even challenge their believes from other’s opinions. But that’s not what I’m looking for. I could just make it easy for myself and sub to the lighthearted communities that fits to my need and just scroll through that instead, but I enjoy the random posts from communities I wouldn’t find unless I was scrolling through /All, like this post for example.
Instead, I just block everything that has a negative reaction that makes me chose to engage in that content from my side. Like another news article about Musk posting something dumb on Twitter once again, for example. If I read the title and want to click the post to read more, I stop to ask myself if feel that if the reason to want to read more stems from anger or frustration, if it does I try to move on. Not because I feel that the topic shouldn’t be discussed or that it shouldn’t have an angry reaction, but because it’s fucking everywhere already and I’m not trying to feed my depression further. Call it an ostrich behaviour, but it makes my experience a little better.
This has no relation to technology whatsoever. Neither Meta or zuck are relevant to anything besides spreading misinformation and interfering with elections around the world. As for the other clown, he’s famously quoted by “it’s all computers!”, and single handedly decided to change name of AI for some recently developed unknown namechanging kink.
