I remember last year when there was a trend of AI generated videos that depicted animals or people doing ridiculous and crazy things on doorbell cameras. Everyone was surprised at how realistic they looked but never questioned why there was enough training data of doorbell cameras to make them in the first place.

Not that relevant, but it makes it pretty clear how “private” this data was in the first place.

The entire US government is corrupt at this point. Both sides back down as soon as their money is threatened and republicans cower in fear every time they second guess their glorious leader. But to answer your question, the Supreme Court of the United States decided Trump can do whatever he wants and they will only fight him when they need to pretend they are impartial. They gave Trump the power over tariffs about a month before his “liberation day.”

At the end of the day it really comes down to the fact that nobody in the entire government of the US has the balls to tell the big baby in charge “no.” And even when they do they only do it to win political points so they look good for the next election.

I live in the mountains and they aren’t even snowcapped this year. Still feels like September and I can easily go outside in a t-shirt most days. Even when it does snow, which has only happened three times so far this season, it melts by the late afternoon.

I mean, you took the first sentence out and ignored the rest of what I said. My point was that yes that is a reason, but it’s not the only reason. My point was they don’t wanna sell to consumers because Elon Musk is just gonna pre-order their entire stock for the next two years.

Well, yeah. I already have one. My company gave me a $500 Amazon giftcard for Christmas even though I never use Amazon so I spent it on something I didn’t really want that much. Besides that, even my neice amd nephew weren’t excited about it and were like “it only has like two games.”

What’s crazy is that they aren’t just doing this because they make more money with AI. They’re doing this because these AI companies have basically pre-ordered a fuck ton of components that have not been manufactured yet to be put into computers that haven’t even been made yet for datacenters that are not even built yet all on an electrical grid that hasn’t caught up. As long as the manufacturers get paid they don’t really give a shit, but this is so unsustainable it would be hilarious if it weren’t so catastrophic for the rest of us. And as long as the line goes up as they all circle jerk their money around they’ll all be happy and can pretend the economy is good.

Don’t just say “White House Official.” It was Stephen Miller. You know, the most racist and probably most dangerous person that is under Trump.

It doesn’t take a lot of tech skill to be an exec for a tech company. My guess is they fall into the same category as those that see the AI overview on Google and think “wow this is so much better” and never second guess the results.

Nobody in the AI industry, tech, or government cares. He says all the buzzwords and gives them all what they want. What he says is basically irrelevant at this point. Until something actually happens we’re all gonna read about some sort of “gotcha” moment every day as if it makes a difference so we can have our rage moments and move on after we get our dopamine hit by calling him a moron.

Not talking shit on anyone here, I’m just tired. And I’m tired of seeing a similar headline day after day as if it changes anything.

They honestly should have expected this given peoples visceral reaction to anything AI. Personally, I have huge problems with AI and refuse to play most games that have used it. I think it’s poisoning every creative industry and replacing important jobs while using vague the excuse that it makes things “easier” while making the game soulless in the process. I’m willing to give Larian the benefit of the doubt simply because of their previous games being amazing, but imma wait for the reviews on this one. This game is still going to be in development for another 4 years and none of us will no what’ll happen between then and now, but for now I’ll remain hopefully optimistic

With the money they made from BG3 they have the means to make Divinity the best it can possibly be and I couldn’t be happier for them. The first two Divinity games were great, don’t get me wrong, but they were basically low budget when compared to the money they got from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to make BG3. I imagine they basically have “fuck you” money now and can do whatever the hell they want. They definitely deserve it and I can’t wait.

Edit: Turns out Larian is going to use gen AI for concept art. I guess fuck all those concept artists trying to get entry level jobs. Very disappointed.

I guess I’m confused because I didn’t know that “low budget” was now synonymous with “indie.” They are an indie dev that made their first game yet their game doesn’t count as “indie” because they had a budget? What about a game like No Man’s Sky? They were an indie dev that got promoted by Sony and everyone shat on it when it came out and said they bit off more than they could chew. In my opinion, that seems even less fair.

I’m not saying they deserved the award more than any other game, I enjoyed all the games nominated, I’m just saying that if E33 flopped I highly doubt anyone would call them more than an indie dev that tried to punch above their weight just like No Man’s Sky.

In my honest opinion as someone that had played and enjoyed both games, they both deserved the awards in their own ways. I think Kingdom Come is definitely a better RPG in general, but at the same time E33 is an amazing game that is an RPG. It’s semantics at this point and I think it’s more of a lack of categories. RPG is such a loose term these days that I feel like it should be sub-divided into a few more. Lumping games together and comparing games that are vastly different based solely on a loose term like RPG is disingenuous.

I went over to Reddit so I could keep track if the game awards because I didn’t have time to actually watch it. Holy shit the hate E33 is getting is completely ridiculous, as Reddit does. Whether you go to the Silksong, KCD2, Death Stranding, Dispatch, Arc Raiders, or any other games subreddit that was nominated for any award about half the comments saying E33 is trash, overhyped, and their game deserved to win instead. As someone that has enjoyed all of these games, the salt is absolutely bonkers. Most of the ones complaining are basically saying “I never played it but I heard they did [blank] so they don’t deserve [blank] award.”

I just don’t get why they need to shit on other people and the games they like just because their game didn’t win. Shit on TGA all you want, but the fans and the devs literally had nothing to do with winning. They were all great games and all deserve praise in their own ways. In two weeks none of us will give a shit anymore anyway and will probably be complaining that “RV There Yet” wins the “Most Innovative Gameplay” award on Steam. I mean, a flippin’ gacha game won the “Players Voice” Award and people are spending their time shitting on objectively good games.

My guess is that they don’t quite have the resources to do anything about it but are more than happy to let everyone know they are doing it to scare people. We’ve already seen how abysmal their ICE recruitment numbers have been and I highly doubt they’d be able to do anything against more than 50% of the entire population with what they currently have.

Yeah, but some people didn’t opt into it. I’ve worked on a lot of new construction in my state and they buy these appliances for every new apartment complex they build. I know people could choose a different apartment, but most people don’t have any other option and saying “no” to a decent apartment because of a refrigerator isn’t a luxury people can afford.

I run into that same issue from time to time. Another one I run into is when I click on items on the task bar it doesn’t bring it up as the active window even when everything else is working. I have to ALT+tab to bring up any Window or minimize every window just to find the one I want and it is absolutely infuriating.

I use windows 10 at home while I use windows 11 at work. The only thing I like about windows 11 is tabs in the file explorer. Besides that I’ve had to deal with Windows Explorer crashing on a daily basis, task bar freezing completely multiple times a week, certain software straight up not working that I need to get work done, programs crashing that work perfectly fine on 10, internet connectivity issues (usually DNS for some fucking reason), periodically hearing the disconnect sound for a device even when everything is still working, awful drop down menus, needing to change the registry just to get basic features that 10 has, and the list goes on and on. At home everything just works. I’ve been testing Linux and have been getting better stability than Windows 11 and I feel like every week there’s a new problem.

With how much external funding gets shoved into AI startups these days, I feel like 90% of AI startups are basically just a pump and dump with extra steps and targeted at investors. He’s probably already gotten millions in investments already just by this announcement.
