World News@lemmy.world•Trump says he's been rejected by NATO, most allies to join mission to secure critical Strait of HormuzEnglish
83·1 month agoOh, I see what’s going on now.
Trump’s main goal is Putin’s goal. Weaken the United States and its allegiances.
Now that he’s been “rebuffed” by NATO, he’s got even more justification to weaken NATO and the UN.
Cute checkers move.
Lately it seems I have a lot of migraines on Saturdays. Fuck my life.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•[OC] But they were, all of them, deceived
2·3 months agoI was thinking of CAD when I wrote this, but all of those graphical design tools are good ammunition for this argument. It’s hard to make those types of software without paying people. With the advent of AI that can write code, we’ll probably see open source software make tons of headway.

I’m sorry, what?
The ellipsis being offensive is rough. For me, it conveys giving space to the reader. It’s polite.

11·5 months agoI would bet on AGI arriving sooner rather than later.
The primary limiting factor right now is availability of power and space. Once small modular reactors start to really take off, we are going to see insane growth in AI development.

110·5 months agoI totally understand the challenges with infrastructure that need solving, but that doesn’t mean AI is useless or that it’ll never be better than it is now.
Frankly, the “AI slop” crusade isn’t working. It’s time to choose a new fighter.

1839·5 months agoPeople are way too pessimistic about AI. NVIDIA is going to sell GPUs by the truckload until research finds a way around CUDA.
Sure, the pace of big leaps has slowed, but I liken this phase to the early 1900s. Cars were slow and unreliable, but once the technology took foothold and the 4th Industrial Revolution really took off, look how much progress was made. We went to the moon by the 60s.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People whose parents have become fascist, how are you dealing with it?
01·7 months agoMy dad was in the military, but I never heard the sorts of things from him that I do now. He has started saying the N word to try to get a rise out of me, thinks Trump is going to “fix” everything, and every time I talk to him on the phone, I can hear fascist talk radio in the background.
We have learned not to bring up politics with each other. The last time I challenged him on it, he said I was being disrespectful, but I don’t accept that. He just thought I was supposed to sit quietly and listen to crazy ranting.
I have learned that in general it’s best to change the subject if someone wants to talk politics who I know I don’t agree with. Most people have gotten the point. We still get along great! We just have polar opposite politics.
Now I know that some people would question why I remain friendly with those people. The answer is that we have more in common than not. Someday, when everyone finally comes to the conclusion that the powerful and foreign are manipulating our political discourse to sow discord, we will finally be at peace again.
