Imagine China as a company. There is a board of directors, and Xi is the head of that board. The board runs a lot of lower ranking boards that control all the aspects of government operation.

Have a problem with your plumbing? Go to your local province or city board. A whole region experiencing drought? The regional board has an action plan that they impose on the local boards to implement with government regional help. Xi is responsible for steering the overarching policy of China moving forward as a country. His role is to say “make China control the South China Sea and receive deference from those countries” to the military, and then it’s their problem to figure out how to harass shipping.

You get promoted to higher boards for good work, and the board votes for its leader. Read Xi’s promotion history. I would die after that many years of office politics, myself.

Inaction that causes a harm is an action. Say for example you’re a muslim that doesn’t vote for a female candidate because you feel she doesn’t do enough to help your people. If the other candidate actively allows great harm to your people, you failing to vote for the female candidate is helping empower the harm on your people.

The method that totally wouldn’t have been used was to have a foreign ally in Five Eyes track all cell phones and correlate the information with security cameras. Then they share the intelligence with the US. Technically on the edge of legal but they know the shit storm if americans generally knew how surveilled they are. We literally would hand them all our related files, ask them to spot suspects, and hand us back the answer. The soaking version of surveillance.

I’m only in mid-six figures and I’ll admit I benefit and the poor suffer. If there was no immigrant labor general goods would cost more, and I’d feel the drag paying more for what is cheaper… like I will soon when we’re all competing with dollars for a share if smaller harvests. The only solutions locally are discovery of more economic ways to produce, or importing from cheaper parts of the world. We’ve been covering our eyes on where the chicken comes from for years, and we’re going to learn a hard lesson by going cold turkey.

I have a friend who’s looking at developing a series on new DM’s entering Daggerheart. I’m really curious to see how the game waxes while Hasbro seems intent on making 5e wane.

I personally really enjoy 5e for casual play, and would probably play Pathfinder with a great roleplaying party. Not sure about Daggerheart, but curious if it grows on me. Hasbro seems intent on forcing D&D into a subscription model, and the CR people have a real opening here.
