I honestly to goodness can’t think of the last time I heard Trump drop an F bomb. I think he’s actually rather cross with them

That is a problem, but not an intractable one. The first easy win would be to just stop wasting so much water. CA could be a lot more careful with water than it is by just leaning on industry and ag to cut wasteful water use harder than it leans on the suburbs. Don’t get me wrong, green lawns in our Mediterranean climate are a stupid waste too, but it pencils out to less than a percent of all water use, where ag and industry are both in the double digits.
I mean, if you can reasonably bridge the gulf between stars, scientific advancement is basically all that’s left, unless it’s just your culture to be slaving, warmongering dickheads. Your home solar system probably has all the raw materials and energy you could ever ask for.
The criticality of any given service is inversely proportional to how recently released was the technology that it runs on.
This, if you see some ancient machine sitting there humming, don’t even make eye contact with that mf, don’t even think about it. In fact, try to minimize your time in the same room so when it eventually goes tits up, you don’t get blamed.
I would watch the absolute fuck out of this to the point that my family would be so fucking sick of it.
IIRC, you can get into public games on roll20. I also know Lemmy has an instance dedicated to TTRPGs; do they have any kind of game matchup community?
I’ve never met a public-facing tabletop group that wasn’t enthusiastic to introduce new people to it. I think honestly my worst experience was when some dude brought his insanely broken D&D 3.5 character to play in a level one 5E game. The DM handled it very well; much better than I would have, I think.
Your nearest, biggest city’s library is a good place to look. Libraries almost always have something going on in a spare public room or have public event flyers hung up. If you’re interested in politics, going and yelling at city council is a great way to meet local activists.
The IRL answer here is that it doesn’t matter if it actually makes money / creates value in the long run, it only matters if the investors think it will, or if the c-suite think the investors think it will, or if the current investors (looking to sell) think that future investors (looking to buy) think it will.
Are you sure it isn’t just that he’s Dutch?
Oh no way! Agh! Okay, I know what I’m trying next time.
I just… I will never be able to recruit Minthara.
Remember when Gemini said that you should eat at least one small rock per day?
No, I was speaking generally. I’ve seen several calls for non-violence, though the only people I’ve seen get hurt so far are those who’ve been hurt by the police. I wanted to share that there is space between not being violent and being prepared or demonstrating the capacity for violence.
That’s fair
Regarding the calls for non-violence, I don’t want to put anyone down or say anyone’s doing anything wrong. Good job being out there and trying. I would also like to point out
Dr. King was NOT spoken of as a paragon of non-violence by conservative contemporaries. It was very common to refer to Dr. King’s protests as riots and in terms of inciting violence, even if the violence being invited, much as today, was police on protestor violence. If Dr. King had bowed to the cries that he was sparking violence, we never would have gone anywhere. There was a huge acceptance washing campaign by conservative America after the civil rights wins.
In the 2014 Maidan protests in Ukraine, protestors were getting cut down by police snipers during peaceful, unarmed marches. The police snipers were shooting people who were running out with stretchers to get the people who’d been shot. When they finally got sick of it and announced that they were going to come back tomorrow and do an armed march, the cops suddenly remembered that they all had dentist appointments in Belarus that day and skipped town. Nobody got shot during the armed march. See: https://youtu.be/yzNxLzFfR5w . So, it’s not so much that you have to use violence, but the state is a lot more likely to hesitate about kicking your shit in if they know you can be violent back and believe that you’re willing to do so. Ask any conservative what an acceptable protest is, and it’s likely to be something like “shouting into your closet”; as far as they’re concerned, peaceful marches ARE ALREADY violent if anyone notices them or they disrupt anything at all. Our cops don’t give a shit if you’re peaceful, they shoot reporters with rubber bullets and force people to grab billy clubs so they can beat the fuck out of them. We’re past that. It’s time to remind the state that there is alternative to peaceful protest if they really want to go that route.
Talking a whole lot of shit for someone riding around in a machine that will find literally any excuse to break down. Helicopters are sketchy as fuck, and even if you manage to autorotate perfectly to try and recover from a stall, you’re still liable to suffer severe or fatal injuries. It’s super easy to crash due to human error or some kind of mechanical failure.
Remember when Israel kept yanking the football away from the Biden administration every time that Biden announced new Gaza ceasefire talks? At this point, you’d have to be a fucking fool to believe a word that slithers out of Nettanyahu’s head. Israel is working damn hard on burning as much political capital as it possibly can as fast as it can. Of course, they’re not doing it to do something cool like fighting climate change or build a moon base, it’s simply to murder as many people as they can as fast as they can.
