General trick for unknowns like this, you can rename a folder, open the applications. If they work, it is likely safe to delete that folder. If not, you rename that folder back. A simple way to test removing something non-destructively.

I’ve been playing Soulstone Survivors. I kida forgot it existed and was searching the Steam Store for a Vampire Survivor like and was reminded I own it.Itt is clear that the makers were in the middle of making a ARPG rougelike when VS came out, and they successfully made the change. As a result, it has well fleshed out systems across the board.

Jolt for Godot seems like a really solid option for physics heavy games. Godot’s built in physics aren’t bad, but its pretty easy to push them to their limits.

Can’t say I’ve seen that yet, but it is a good point. Your home directory might still get a little messy. I think the thought of using the config to me a user per-desktop environment you test is problem a good idea.

I agree with NixOS as a good choice for this. The most important bit for me is it cleans up really well when you switch. Every other distro I’ve tried tends to leave a lot of mess behind and a lot of duplicate function apps.

Can’t say I’ve done extensive research, and Nintendo would be the first company I would assume would ignore standards, but my understanding is that any half decent charger has a sort of power negotiation to prevent such issue. I suppose if you have some cheap dollar store USB-C chargers laying around it might be risky if they too ignore the standards.

That said, I did have a USB-C PD 65w charger fry a laptop. It was, for sure, the charger screwing up though, I even had warning signs I completely ignored. I miss that laptop, it was a good laptop.

Not related to your point at all, but: The switch uses USB-C. Pretty much any USB-C charger will work. For the dock you do want to make sure it can push enough power, but it’s a rather low requirement. I use the same charger for my SteamDeck dock and the Switch dock. It’s the great thing about USB-C. But of course gamestop would try to sell you their generic crap instead of an official one.

I was never much of one to use multiple desktops, but visually, back when XP was the best Microsoft had, it felt like magic to see your windows show up in 3D. Things like wobbly windows and flame closing also seemed like magic. Someone truly outside of what was possible on Windows. In the end they were a fad, but they were a good demonstration of the power and customizability of Linux.

Most distros use whatever DNS provider your router’s DHCP gives them. That’s not something the OS normally decides. Some browsers are taking upon themselves to use DNS over HTTPS, which often does use Cloudflare or Google, but that’s not the OS doing it.

It’s certainly why it is being used to build browsers and OSs now. Those are places were memory management problems are a huge problem. It probably doesn’t make sense for every match 3 game to be made in Rust, but when errors cause massive breaches or death, it’s a lot safer than C++, taking human faulability into account.

That isn’t for lack of trying on Godots part, but there are parts of making a Switch game that are incompatible with an open source engine. It is possible to have a closed source export profile that targeted the switch, but someone would have to make it, and that someone would charge money for it. Which is almost exactly what has happened.

It is interesting how free it is to build games for consoles these days. Now that everything is on pretty standard hardware, gone are the days of needing a dev kit and special knowledge of how the CPU or other hardware worked. Even the switch is standard ARM hardware, the proprietary part is the OS integration parts, not the hardware.

You know what, I take that back. Looking at what the code is doing, that feels intentional. It looks like they replaced the term slave, and I can’t see a situation where you would replace the word slave with that word accidently.

That is interesting, assuming that it isn’t what it appears, perhaps it is a language barrier, since Yandex is Russian, they might have just come up with a special class of triggers, and didn’t realize the they were using one of the most offensive words in the English language.

That’s probably too charitable of an interpretation, but I could see myself making that mistake against another language.

I think the important thing to note about Terraria is it is as much Zelda and Castlevania as it is Minecraft. That is what makes it special. A lot of the copy cats tried to do 2D Minecraft, but forgot how important the Castlevania combat was to the whole mix.

Indie game devs: Godot will be happy to have you. Not nearly as large of an ecosystem of tutorials and for pay assets, but time will fix that if people start moving over in mass. I know for my gamejam games I’ll take Godot any day of the week.

You assume they have an endpoint team. There are a lot of companies under 100 employees out there. They are often lucky if they have an IT guy at all.

I often like to browse the “All” view instead of just my subscribed communities. It helps me find new communities, as well as get information from communities I wouldn’t normally be interested in. Unfortunately, the most popular communities are mostly meme communities. That content does well to grab users, get upvotes, and have comments. As a result, almost any way you sort “All” comes back with Memes at the top unless you block the communities.
