I am against animal agriculture for the same reason I am against sexism, racism, ableism, classism and homophobia.

The circumstances of a creatures birth does not dictate what it is “meant for”, every one deserves to live happy, healthily and with dignity, but some simply want to live.

  • So I’m going to come at this from a different perspective because I’ve put a lot of thought in to this topic in other ways. I’m vegan, meaning I do not buy, consume or use any animal products, which obviously includes leather or fur. However since I am not financially supporting those industries by paying for those products and the perpetuation of animal abuse practices, I consider it moral for me to buy those items 2nd hand.

However I do not, for two big reasons:

    1. Ew. It’s literally skin. That’s so gross. I don’t want to touch leather, let alone wear it.
    2. The perception of those viewing me, I don’t want to be seen as a person that pays for fur and leather. Wearing an item is tacit endorsement of the item to everyone who views you, strangers included.

So to bring it back around, yes you can thrift fast fashion ethically. So long as you understand that anyone who recognize it as fast fashion, will reasonably think you buy fast fashion and support the industry. Up to you if that’s something you are comfortable with it.

  • Loftus always does good stuff. My fave is her Lolita podcast which breaks down the history of its public perception. The book is a monster attack story, but told from the viewport of the monster. Using flowery language talking to a jury is explaining how it’s not that bad, and he eventually rots in prison. The self serving lies are both obvious and numerous .

But some-fucking-how most people think it’s a problematic star crossed lovers, romeo and juilet, age is just a number, forbidden romance BS. Multiple movies and stage have distorted the book into the exact thing the author was mocking.

Sorry. Random rant. But goddamn does Jamie do good work.

  • I firmly believe the only reason this game is “beloved” is the same reason that iPhones sell just because of the logo of the company that made them.

It’s more nostalgia than branding. I’ll entirely agree that half life hasn’t aged great, but what’s important is the historical context. The games were groundbreaking for the time, especially HL2 with its physics engine and gravity gun. I remember playing it just days after release then being shocked and amazed at those different systems. There just weren’t many games with that level of polish tackling such a wide scope.

Just like with watershed TV/movie/music, it seems quaint and overhyped as their innovations become the norm.

  • Nonononono NO.

Child rape teachers are knowingly taking advantage of social trust in order to exploit kids. Absolutely nothing in the ball park of “pedos can’t help it”. Rape is not a kink, fetish or identity, it’s a selfish, harmful, devastating crime with decades of repurcussions.

Please, I implore you to please never use this type of LGBTQIA acceptance language for pedophila. Child rapists are light-years away from two queer consenting adults and conflating the two only harms the innocent.
