I just set mine up to be as close to RIF as possible. I love it so far.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What portable utilities do you carry with you.English
2·3 年前I use the new PE version since it’s still maintained and has had something to fix any of my problems so far.
Hiren’s boot CD
It’s a small ISO with tons of utilities on it. It’s great for recovering data if shit goes really south. I always have one handy.
Edit: toss it onto your ventoy stick

I used these a bunch in some jungle training. Any petroleum based jellies worked great, so we used bacitracin packets as our additive.
Fun fact: dead bamboo will always be dry in the middle between two joints. You can split it up into a couple thin pieces and it makes great kindling.
Live bamboo will create a small pressure bomb.
No, the host instance will not proliferate your input to other instances. Only your instance will have that and will only share it with other users from your instance.
e.g. I’m on Lemmy.world. I post on the Beehaw gaming community. Only other users from Lemmy.world will see my posts.
Federation can be a one way street. The problem with that is your comments and votes will only be visible from the instance you did it from. Lemmy.world will show other Lemmy.world users your comment but Beehaw will not ever see it, which means your comment will not proliferate to other instances either.
You can still browse content from an instance that has defederated yours but your actions will only be visible on your own instance.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Recommendations for games where the sound takes it to the next level?
1·3 年前Tarkov is known for how great the soundscape is. I highly recommend using the SPTarkov mod to play offline though.
I played Tarkov for a solid 3 or 4 months. The game itself is beautiful and raw. It’s got the best weapon modification system I’ve ever seen. The sounds are top tier, especially when you consider the realistic differences the headsets to muffle or amplify sounds.
The downfall is the other players. The net code sucks so bad and the cheaters are rampant. The game suffers a lot for this. The reason most battle royals have high TTK is because losing instantly to someone is a terrible feeling, so to prevent this you have a ton of health and shields to at least give you a fighting chance.
Tarkov doesn’t give a shit about that. You can spend 15 mins putting your kit together and loading into a raid just to be one tapped by a rat with a mosin shooting SNB. All that work into putting your kit together is wasted and now you’ve just donated your kit to wherever loots your body.
The SPTarkov mod is the greatest thing to ever happen to Tarkov because it got rid of the worst part of it: the other players.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Whats a game that everybody seems to love that you cant stand for one reason or another?
5·3 年前You have to set a goal for yourself and find ways to achieve it. I want to build a castle - What materials do you need and how do you get them? How can you get them faster? Can you automate the material gathering?
It gets even crazier in modded Minecraft.
Rimworld, at the later hours of a colony, becomes more of an idling game. Mods make it even more so by making your pawns and defenses insanely overpowered. My late game colonies usually have 5-10 brawlers that absolutely shred everything.

0·3 年前I have yet to play a game where NPCs have the same speed as the player, have you?
RDR2 did an excellent job with this by making it more of a pseudo cutscene. You can just hold a button and your character will match the target speed.

Possibly from allowing sunlight into the building which heats the interior. Air conditioning must work extra hard to overcome the heat.
