I think we just have very different ideas of what makes a game a “completely different game”. It seems to you all remasters are completely different games, and I just wholeheartedly disagree.

So Skyrim on Switch is not the same game as Skyrim on PC…?

Mac is great for emulators, so you have that.

Also mac native games, like ones you can buy on the App Store (cyberpunk etc.) run great on most M chip macs.

Also, Crossover might be a solution for some games. It works for most games fine, some work great, and some don’t work at all.

There’s also other cloud gaming services, where you can emulate a whole computer and just download steam games. Most are cheaper than gamepass 🤷‍♂️

On the note of Fiio, linsoul is pretty good. I’d say China has all the good IEM and music players nowadays.

But piracy is a MUCH smaller issue than theft. Piracy doesn’t deprive the original owner of any material thing. Piracy might decrease sales and profits (research actually says the opposite 🤷‍♂️).

And we have no idea the actual material impact AI will have on the arts. From the reaction we’re seeing it might even make people turn more and more to physical hand crafted art.

We’re already seeing that social media is favoring videos of artists’ processes much more than the final results.

So yeah, no, I don’t see this situation as so much more terrible than theft. I really don’t understand how it could be.

To me it seems the main issue is not even AI, it’s capitalism. If artists didn’t need to sell their art to survive, we wouldn’t even have this discussion.

Seems like the only way companies can turn “AI” profitable is to do massive lay-offs to cut costs. Not because AI can actually take on those jobs that were cut, but because it’s a “good” excuse.
