Roblox the company chose to close down their own forums (to save costs) and this necessarily drives children to other places where they fall victims to scammers and worse. By not offering an venue with sufficient oversight they are complicit in the problem.
Centralization is a bad idea and enables Roblox as a platform to control what is and isn’t going down in private chats of children. Isn’t that arguably worse?
Having your own forum with better oversight does not prevent children from using other communication channels too. But it makes for a safer default and I think this is a reasonable expectation for a game that caters to very young children.
