We're getting more and more excited about the Steam Deck, even though Valve has delayed it at least until February 2022 we do now have quite a few more fun details thanks to the recent Steamworks Virtual Conference.

Not sure how I feel about the (by default and possible to disable) read-only file system on the Steam Deck.

Ubuntu Touch has the same and they justify it by easy system image based updates (same as Valve apparently), but in practical use it requires a lot of strange work-arounds resulting in a lot of typical GNU-Linux approaches not working. It’s even worse in OpenWRT, but at least they really have technical reasons due to often really shoddy consumer router hardware.

Gaming on the GNU/Linux operating system.
