    They’re not even in Europe, kicking them out shouldn’t be controversial normally, let alone when they’ve been committing genocide and are breaking ceasefires.

      This is a classic comment for this discussion. The eurovision is not a contest among european countries. It is a contest among the members of the EBU. Any Many countries (outside of Europe) can become a member of that if they want

          To become a member of the EBU, a public broadcaster must either be:

          • based in a country in this area, defined by the International Telecommunications Union:
          • be a member of the Council of Europe

          Why should Israel be excluded based on its geographical position alone when every country bordering the Mediterrenean is eligble.

            People like to bash on Israel here, but you’re totally correct. It’s actually kind of sad to see that people do not understand the concept that an organisation with “European” in its name might also be open to countries from outside of continental Europe.
