Authorities in Fujiyoshida in central Japan have canceled a spring cherry blossom festival at a popular Mt. Fuji viewing spot, citing residents’ concerns over congestion and nuisance behavior.
Apparently. Their method of dealing with foreigners seems to be to cut themselves off and make life worse for residents. Now thats just based on the news I happen to see, which is probably skewed.
Surely the increase in visitor spending could fund some public toilets, which is clearly lacking for that volume of people.

Cancelling the festival can’t be great for the people who live there and wanted to go. Kinda seems like it’ll hurt vendors as well…
